Please please say I can have Clementine

Hi MNers

A few years ago I posted asking whether I should name my baby Clementine. The answers were a resounding no.
I'm now back again, because I clearly can't take a hint.
So...our surname is Harrowdyne. Can I use Clementine (ending 'tyne' ) or am I once again deluding myself?
Feel free to hand me a grip if I need it.
Thanks!!

and i agree with everyione that the name sounds like a heroine in a novel!

GrapefruitGin · 29/06/2020 20:37

Nooo, poor kid!

EspressoPatronum · 29/06/2020 20:39

Pp who are saying Clem/pleghm... Do you hate Em as well? I know a couple of Emma's and Emily's who get Em. Hmm

Op Clementine harrowdine is fine, though I do prefer Clementina!

Bumpsadaisie · 29/06/2020 20:40

You could have if if pronounced Clementeen Harrowdine? Just ....

Don't think you could have Clementyne Harrowdyne tho ...

She'd be Clemmie Harrowdyne which sounds great.

Then Clem Harrowdyne when she's older. Fab!

PaperDoesntMoveMuchOverTeams · 29/06/2020 20:42

Yes! I love Clementine Andries love that it rhymes with your surname. It’s sounds happy.

IdentifyasTired · 29/06/2020 20:42

Loving all the replies even

"nooo poor kid!" Grin

I love how many of you have said it sounds like a literary character. That about as perfect summing up of my naming ambitions as it gets!!

I agree it sounds like a character from a book. I'm picturing a 1920s female detective. And I mean that in the best way possible!

It might be a little weird to have a rhyming name but it'll just be one of those things. And it's very memorable too.

IdentifyasTired · 29/06/2020 20:46

I feel I must be honest and say that I am not currently pregnant but we have decided to try for another in the not too distant future. I'm just getting a head start!
If it makes any difference this would be our 5th baby. We already have 4 girls named Martha, Rose, Evelyn and Marianne. I figure Clementine goes well with those names.

dons hard hat for being a prolific breeder, another demographic that MN loves to hate.

I think it's great, a very cool name

GreenMintTeaMug · 29/06/2020 20:50

I agree it goes well with those names. All those names are romantic and slightly old fashioned.

TheVanguardSix · 29/06/2020 20:51

Oh my God. I LOVE it! Clementine Harrowdyne. How could you NOT name her this? It sounds fabulous. One of the loveliest children in DD's year 5 class is called Clementine.

Toddlerteaplease · 29/06/2020 20:51

I like it too. I does sound nice with your surname.

slipperywhensparticus · 29/06/2020 20:51

Actually I like it Grin

TheVanguardSix · 29/06/2020 20:52

Oh I love that you have an army of girls with such cool names! Smile

IdentifyasTired · 29/06/2020 20:52

Thank you Vanguard. I adore my girl army. I'm very lucky. Smile

I love it, it's one of my favourites and I'm considering using it for my little girl. What middle name are you thinking of? That's what I'm stuck on...

GreenMintTeaMug · 29/06/2020 20:56

Clementine Evangelina

?

I love that. Now i wish I have a baby girl to name!!

telemache · 29/06/2020 20:56

Lovely name and I think it works with your surname!

Phthalo · 29/06/2020 20:58

I LOVE it. Very balanced as same amount of syllables. Sounds like a lovely storybook character. I know a fair few Clems

Ouchjuststoodonlego · 29/06/2020 20:58

@icedaisy

I actually like it.

Clementine harrowdyne. Sounds like a character from a lovely wind swept book.

No. It sounds like a character from The Hunger Games.

They are both nice names but you can't put them together.

IdentifyasTired · 29/06/2020 20:59

Middle names I love Selina. It's a contender for a first name as well.

OP posts:
IdentifyasTired · 29/06/2020 21:00

I've never seen The Hunger Games so I'm guessing this is a negative association?

I remember your original thread! I think it’s fine. I’ve heard worse...and, when you get used to it, it’s her name and therefore perfectly normal (if you see what I mean). If you pronounce your surname Harrow-dine, I’d pronounce it Clemen-teen (or vice versa - Clemen-tyne Harrow-deen). But I like it!

ellenpartridge · 29/06/2020 21:01

I kind of like it but if you want to avoid the rhyming element just stick it in the middle with a 2nd MN after eg Eloise Clementine June Harrowdyne or similar. I did this for my daughter with a name that completely rhymes with our surname. Works fine in the middle.

needsahouseboy · 29/06/2020 21:01

I love it. Great name
