Girls name 'Beige'

So I met someone earlier and her daughter is called Beige. She's a preteen.
Is this a name anyone has ever heard of? I've only ever known it to be a colour.
She only wrote it down so I don't know how she pronounced it.

OP posts:

I just thought, if you call your daughter Beige, how can you be sure that the OP is the council lady you met? It could literally be anyone considering how unusual the name is.

Beige doesn't mean boring or bland in French culture ,it's obviously a new trendy millennial term penned in the UK.

Beige has alluded to or been used to describe something boring and bland for decades. My grandparents used it and they all died in the early 1980s. Harding 'new trendy millennial' in the slightest.

keen on but a name doesn't define a person and I'm sure that name that was chosen probably has a story or love behind it unless said name is apple lol.

So it’s ok to lol at Apple but get very angry when people state they don’t like Beige? What if Apple’s grandad picked it? Is it ok then? You can’t slate people for judging your noun name whilst stating other noun names aren’t acceptable- it’s hypocritical.

I'm sure apple's parents love her name and I don't really have an opinion on it,it's not going to make one bit of difference to my life the child being called apple a
.,I'm not so cruel as to say it's dull or boring or the child must be affected by it and spend a day or two on a post that holds no relevance to me,I have other things to do. This post was brought to my attention regarding my daughter in a very private meeting. In no way shape nor form would I want to critise the name apple if it was picked from love ,that's the parents choice. End of ,opinions are like rectums dear,we all have them we just don't always need to air them at the cost of upsetting innocent children

DesdemonaDryEyes · 30/01/2020 19:51

Wow.

I have no words.

"You know nothing about what's went on you've merely jumped onto the band wagon to probably satisfy some unfilled gap in your life or perhaps your husband has went back to knocking off his p.a or the pta can no longer abide your attitude or drivle 🙄. I know exactly whom started this thread so wind your neck in"

Good job my husband doesn't have a PA then. You need help for your nerves.

We can confirm @Welllookwhoitis isn’t the only one with appalling tastes in names, given I know someone with a child called Beige. I know it’s not this poster I know because their father was most definitely not French.

The fact that a haute couture global brand renowned for its style and class and that's been dressing starlets, popstars, royalty for decades decided to call one of there leading perfumes Beige tells me that Beige as a name is anything but boring or is Chanel deluded too??

I suspect they were being ironic.

@PeggySuehadababy I don't think you mean the op. the op is not the parent of the child called Beige.

WhereShallWeMoveTo · 31/01/2020 08:19

Strange choice, given that Beige is used as an insult and. Byword for middle aged, boring blandness.

Oliversmumsarmy · 31/01/2020 08:32

Beige tells me that Beige as a name is anything but boring or is Chanel deluded too

I think it is one of those things where a brand comes up with a name and doesn’t realise that it means different things in different countries

PeggySuehadababy · 31/01/2020 11:04

@AdachiOljulo yes sorry, I got that wrong. Bit harsh words from me as well, sorry, shouldn't have said that.

Whatsyourflava · 31/01/2020 11:48

This thread makes for an interesting read!!

mathanxiety · 31/01/2020 12:29

I think it is one of those things where a brand comes up with a name and doesn’t realise that it means different things in different countries

That wouldn't happen. They used it ironically - as in, what is the last word you would think of in connection with Chanel?

Oliversmumsarmy · 31/01/2020 12:46

mathanxiety

The irony was lost on me.

Thought they hadn’t done their research.

ThighThighofthigh · 02/02/2020 23:22

I feel sorry for the girl that had Beige as her second name. her forename was Satin

I misread that as Satan.

ThighThighofthigh · 02/02/2020 23:33

This is the most interesting babyname thread I've ever read! I'm agog!

WindyMiller1020 · 02/02/2020 23:37

I always wondered what would happen if someone read a thread that they recognised was about them!
