Girls name 'Beige'

So I met someone earlier and her daughter is called Beige. She's a preteen.
Is this a name anyone has ever heard of? I've only ever known it to be a colour.
She only wrote it down so I don't know how she pronounced it.

I mean, if you're going to call a child after a colour, at least pick a good one! Fuchsia, Magenta, Scarlet, Violet, Viridian, Alizarin, Sienna - all great colours and okay names. But BEIGE?

I'm planning to call me next one Elephant's Breath. Then get riled on Mumsnet if SIL or neighbour does the same. Because it's Yoo-nique.

When i think of beige, my mind fills with thoughts of anything dull, bland and boring...its genuinely one of the worst names I've heard for a child!

I went to school with someone with an unusual name who went one to have a daughter named Beige. Wonder if is the same woman?

It is hands down the worst name I have come across. Nevaeh looks and sounds classy in comparison.

Hi it was me you met that Friday and my daughter's name is indeed beige, as she was called after my French father whom always liked the name for me almost 40 years ago and as my father died and I found out I was having a girl she was called Beige rather than bump the g is silent in French so sounds like bayshh . Small world me coming across this and not very professional to discuss my details or my daughter's really seeing as tho you work for the Council

I walked past a plus-size clothes shop called Beige the other day. I though it was pretty uninspiring as a shop name, let alone a name for a child.
