Is this name really that bad

I’m vvv fussy w names.
First baby, a little girl. Due 16th September!
And the only name I adore, always have is Everly!
Everly Violet / Everly Rose / Everly Hope / Everly Lyla
Are all in the running, with Rose as mn being my favourite.
I think it’s so pretty, unusual but not ridiculous, or pretentious.
I like Ever or Ev as nn.
DP loves it too, as do the 2 friends I’ve told. Not gonna tell my mam and nan until she’s born as they are... v opinionated :)
So, did a quick google search of ‘Everly mumsnet’ and ummm, it seems 9/10 MNers hate it - despise it with passion in fact!
I am aware it is Beverly without B, Everly brothers etc... but is it rlly that bad?
And if it truly is horrific, any other suggestions?
I don’t like Evelyn. Prefer modern, unique names.
TIA

I honestly was expecting 100% of replies to be absolutely hating it.
I think I may be decided then...

Is Rose a ‘filler’ middle name? I think it’s really pretty and classic.

It’s definitely modern, but I don’t think it meets your “unique” criterion tbh. I’ve heard of two babies named this in 2019 having never heard of it before. It seems to be growing in popularity. It may turn out to be a fad name which wouldn’t bother me, but it doesn’t sound like something you’d want.

90sbaby · 23/08/2019 23:38

I'm 29 and have no idea who the Everly brothers are so doubt your baby's generation will

I’m 21 and the Everly Brothers were my first thought.
However it’s not a bad association or one that’s really really overt. It’s not the same as naming your baby Presley or Bowie

MoaningMinnie1 · 23/08/2019 23:44

I think Rose is a very pretty name, it seems to be coming back in vogue. I can't say I know anyone called Rose but I do like the name.

Tons better than Everly.

whattodowith · 23/08/2019 23:53

It’s quite American. I only say this due to the incredibly twee and irritating family my DC like to watch on YouTube.

Moominfan · 23/08/2019 23:55

It's not to my taste but it isn't awful

KatherineJaneway · 24/08/2019 00:01

I think Everley Brothers.

DontCallMeShitley · 24/08/2019 00:17

Eva Leigh

alexasmith · 24/08/2019 00:31

pretentious

Walnutwhipster · 24/08/2019 00:43

I know a pub named Everley near Scarborough.

SemperIdem · 24/08/2019 00:45

I’m 30 and the Everly Brother’s is my first point of reference.

ZiggyB · 24/08/2019 00:52

Sorry it’s too much like Beverley for me.

Colourfulest · 24/08/2019 01:00

Heads up though. Looks like it may not be uncommon for long.

Is this name really that bad
Colourfulest · 24/08/2019 01:01

And yes. Rose really is a filler name!! So bored of it now 🙄

Astronica · 24/08/2019 01:38

Everly is not my taste but usable.

Just be aware though, it is not the least bit unique. It is very high (and rising) in the American popular name charts, and also is popular and rising in the UK. It is very similar in sounds to several other very popular names so will seem even more common (Avery, Evelyn, Evie etc). Being common is not a problem, except you said you don't want this.
Also, names that suddenly appear and become very popular also seem to quickly date to a certain decade.

Rose is indeed a beautiful name. I love it as a first name. Unfortunately almost every Everly out there will have Rose as the middle name. Yes, it sounds great, that's why everyone is using it. I would prefer Everly Violet.

I don't know if anyone has mentioned, but there was a British actress Everley Gregg from 1930s to 50s.

mathanxiety · 24/08/2019 02:19

Colourfulfest that graph reflects my impression of the rising popularity.

BobTheFishermansWife · 24/08/2019 02:39

I think Evetly is cute and all 4 of your choices are adorable.

Kungfupanda67 · 24/08/2019 07:36

@liinnnua my daughter’s middle name is Grace, another filler name apparently- I don’t particularly care and I don’t know any other babies born recently with the same middle name (again, not that I would particularly mind)

tirednhungry247 · 24/08/2019 07:37

@user1493759849 what about Evarlee GrinGrinGrinGrin

challengeyourreality · 24/08/2019 07:39

I like it

AverageMummy · 24/08/2019 07:51

I don’t like it but it’s not the worst I have seen on here
Avery is beautiful and similar - do you like that? It’s also rarer but will feel even more so given the huge number of Evie Eve Evelyn names at the moment

AverageMummy · 24/08/2019 07:53

I have a filler middle name for my time & was slightly jealous of those who didn’t. Parents all said the same thing though ‘I love it so...’ but it did feel bland and boring to me. Rose is absolutely going to feel that way to the next generation

Applejack5 · 24/08/2019 08:00

How about Amelie? That's pretty and quite unusual.

lanbro · 24/08/2019 08:03

I like it, my best friend has one...however, I think it's becoming popular and might not be as unusual as you think.

FWIW my friend calls his Ev, it always reminds me of Shirley off Eastenders Blush

TildaTurnip · 24/08/2019 08:08

I actually don’t mind it and think it sounds nice
BUT
it is too similar to heavily and that alone makes it unusable imo
