Is this name really that bad

I’m vvv fussy w names.
First baby, a little girl. Due 16th September!
And the only name I adore, always have is Everly!
Everly Violet / Everly Rose / Everly Hope / Everly Lyla
Are all in the running, with Rose as mn being my favourite.
I think it’s so pretty, unusual but not ridiculous, or pretentious.
I like Ever or Ev as nn.
DP loves it too, as do the 2 friends I’ve told. Not gonna tell my mam and nan until she’s born as they are... v opinionated :)
So, did a quick google search of ‘Everly mumsnet’ and ummm, it seems 9/10 MNers hate it - despise it with passion in fact!
I am aware it is Beverly without B, Everly brothers etc... but is it rlly that bad?
And if it truly is horrific, any other suggestions?
I don’t like Evelyn. Prefer modern, unique names.
TIA

It's not a bad name at all imo, although to be honest I wouldn't give a gnat's fart what anyone on MN thought anyway.

When she's older she may want to shorten it to 'Leigh' rather than 'Ev'.

MrsEricBana · 23/08/2019 22:16

OP there's nothing wrong with it at all. And if it's good enough for Channing...

thenightsky · 23/08/2019 22:17

I take it you're not from South Yorkshire OP?

Ellie56 · 23/08/2019 22:17

Happy Everly after. Grin

Applejack5 · 23/08/2019 22:18

I don't like it, but it's not the worst name I've heard.

It's definitely better spelled Everly than Everleigh - that is awful.

Nanny0gg · 23/08/2019 22:20

I don't know why people ask.

I personally don't like 'made-up' names and I don't really like double-barrelled ones either.

But - not my kid, not my problem.

It's up to you.

HopeIsNotAStrategy · 23/08/2019 22:21

No. Just no.

Bubbletrouble43 · 23/08/2019 22:22

I think it's lovely. X

Ikeameatballs · 23/08/2019 22:22

I liked it until you described it as “Beverley without the B”. I suggest not saying that when you announce the name.

Seriously, your baby, your choice. If you love it that’s what counts.

Hotbiscuits · 23/08/2019 22:22

Hideous. Sounds like an adverb (happily, hopefully etc).

In truth I don't like it, but there are much uglier names out there. It sounds made up and instagrammy to me.
Your baby, your choice though - name her what YOU love, not a bunch of randoms on the Internet.

greentreeseverywhere · 23/08/2019 22:26

I know a boy and a girl Everly. I like it but I like unusual names!

DesertSky · 23/08/2019 22:26

I think it’s actually very pretty and nice that it’s not common. If you love it OP, go with your heart!

Chickoletta · 23/08/2019 22:26

Hate it

AreWeAnywhereNear · 23/08/2019 22:27

It's not a name I'd chose, but if you like it go for it!

There's loads of names that I 'hated' but now love as I associate them with people I've met of that name.

GabsAlot · 23/08/2019 22:28

I like it but dont shorten it evs is my husbands nickname i find it quite blokey

LucieFurr · 23/08/2019 22:29

Dreadful. Sorry

31RueCambon · 23/08/2019 22:30

Heard worse. Very popular in america.

What kind of accent do you have. I would like it moreif you pronounce your r in the middle of a word.

If you say Evully , not so much.

thisismadness77 · 23/08/2019 22:30

I like it.

polkadotpixie · 23/08/2019 22:31

I actually quite like it, especially spelled Everleigh

I the only reservation I have is in my local accent it would sound like you were saying heavily

Cherrysherbet · 23/08/2019 22:32

Never heard it before...but I love it!

Sparklingbrook · 23/08/2019 22:34

'Everleigh' sounds like something you would name your house and have it written on a plaque outside.

Youwantshoesinashoeshop · 23/08/2019 22:34

I like the mouthfeel of it actually. It's not fussy, frilly or twee. Go for it!

SchadenfreudePersonified · 23/08/2019 22:35

I like it.

Particularly like Everley Rose,

Go for it!
