Is this name really that bad

I’m vvv fussy w names.
First baby, a little girl. Due 16th September!
And the only name I adore, always have is Everly!
Everly Violet / Everly Rose / Everly Hope / Everly Lyla
Are all in the running, with Rose as mn being my favourite.
I think it’s so pretty, unusual but not ridiculous, or pretentious.
I like Ever or Ev as nn.
DP loves it too, as do the 2 friends I’ve told. Not gonna tell my mam and nan until she’s born as they are... v opinionated :)
So, did a quick google search of ‘Everly mumsnet’ and ummm, it seems 9/10 MNers hate it - despise it with passion in fact!
I am aware it is Beverly without B, Everly brothers etc... but is it rlly that bad?
And if it truly is horrific, any other suggestions?
I don’t like Evelyn. Prefer modern, unique names.
TIA

I really like the name Everly. Only heard of one baby with the name and that’s a celebrity

newnamewhosthis · 23/08/2019 21:47

I don't like it sorry op

HollowTalk · 23/08/2019 21:47

You know it's meant to be spelled Everley, don't you?

gavisconismyfriend · 23/08/2019 21:48

Everly Rose - beautiful name!

Sparklingbrook · 23/08/2019 21:48

Awful.

It doesn't sound 'pretty' to me, just sounds like a made up name.

JeanieJardine55 · 23/08/2019 21:49

Truly awful.

forgivemeimnew · 23/08/2019 21:49

I like it. Everley Rose is my favourite out of them all. I also like Emerson.

percheron67 · 23/08/2019 21:50

Phil or Don would be infinitely preferable to Ev?? Ev!!??

Rainbowknickers · 23/08/2019 21:51

Call your baby what you want-you can’t please everyone
I called one of mine an unusual name and I took some stick when he was born
I ignored it and he really suits it
My dad told me he could change it when he’s older-jokes in him as my lad loves his name and likes how nobody else in the whole world has his full name (went a bit mad with his middle names)
If you love the name just use it
(I regret caving into this kind of pressure with first born and really wish I’d had the guts to call her my fave name which was bloody different)

PetraRabbit · 23/08/2019 21:51

I'm quite opinionated and maybe a bit snobby about names, but Everley isn't bad at all. It's feminine enough, not too common and the sounds are nice. I think it's great that you and DP have found a name you both love and you shouldn't worry about opinions. I do think you should consider a different middle name. Rose seems to be the middle name of 80% of girl babies these days and it is really boring. Maybe Rosa would be prettier, or just any other name (not Grace or May either).

Isleepinahedgefund · 23/08/2019 21:51

I liked it until you said Beverly without the B. I can’t I see that and I’d always have a little chuckle at it.

CallmeAngelina · 23/08/2019 21:52

By "modern and unique," do you mean "made up?"

tabbiemoo · 23/08/2019 21:52

I like it very pretty. The only one I’ve heard of is from the American reality show Bringing Up Bates.

Lizzylozzy444 · 23/08/2019 21:52

If you love it, don't worry about what anyone else thinks! The opinions of other people don't matter. Use it!

Purplecatshopaholic · 23/08/2019 21:53

Sorry, just no! She will constantly be describing her name as Beverley without the B to people....

Tonnerre · 23/08/2019 21:53

Yes, it really is exactly that bad. Don't do it to your unfortunate child, she just doesn't deserve it.

HeadintheiClouds · 23/08/2019 21:53

It’s really awful. You need to get a whole lot fussier.

I've never heard of it as a girl's name but it's growing on me by the minute! I say - go for it, OP! You love it and there are so many "new" names going around these days that it will be accepted. It actually has a musical sound and I like the connotations of "ever" - it suggests constancy and fidelity as in "ever after" in fairy tales!

CheeseCakeSunflowers · 23/08/2019 21:54

I haven't heard it used as a first name before but I like it.

livinglavidavillanelle · 23/08/2019 21:55

I really like it. Although Rose is super common as a middle name, still pretty though.

MoaningMinnie1 · 23/08/2019 21:56

Sounds like half of a pair of old brothers who sing country and western. What would you call her for short? Ever? Very?

Verity is nice. Means 'truth'.

actuallyquitesmall · 23/08/2019 21:56

Trouble is, I sense a lifetime of having to explain to people how to spell it.

tabbiemoo · 23/08/2019 21:57

They spell it Everly, and her name is Everly Hope.

TokenGinger · 23/08/2019 21:57

I think it's lovely.
