Is this name really that bad

I’m vvv fussy w names.
First baby, a little girl. Due 16th September!
And the only name I adore, always have is Everly!
Everly Violet / Everly Rose / Everly Hope / Everly Lyla
Are all in the running, with Rose as mn being my favourite.
I think it’s so pretty, unusual but not ridiculous, or pretentious.
I like Ever or Ev as nn.
DP loves it too, as do the 2 friends I’ve told. Not gonna tell my mam and nan until she’s born as they are... v opinionated :)
So, did a quick google search of ‘Everly mumsnet’ and ummm, it seems 9/10 MNers hate it - despise it with passion in fact!
I am aware it is Beverly without B, Everly brothers etc... but is it rlly that bad?
And if it truly is horrific, any other suggestions?
I don’t like Evelyn. Prefer modern, unique names.
TIA

No, it's really that bad.

Evelyn is much nicer. And Rose as a middle name is SO tired. Have a bit of originality.

SpeckledyHen · 23/08/2019 21:10

Not for me I’m afraid . However Lyla Rose would be a winner.

itbemay1 · 23/08/2019 21:10

Its lovely. I met an Everly the other day beautiful

sheshootssheimplores · 23/08/2019 21:10

Don’t like it.

Holidaysmoliday · 23/08/2019 21:11

I like it

Ninkaninus · 23/08/2019 21:12

Yeah I don’t like it either. Sorry.

I’m not a fan of surnames as names.

daisypond · 23/08/2019 21:12

It’s a surname or, at best, a boy’s name. It’s odd on a girl.

PinkOboe · 23/08/2019 21:12

Beverly - so different. Yet so similar

AlexaAmbidextra · 23/08/2019 21:13

I just think of the Everly Brothers. But then I’m old. 😂

DontCallMeShitley · 23/08/2019 21:13

As in Don and Phil? Or was that spelled Everley (Brothers).

Seriously, it is awful. And Avery? Weighing scales or bird cage.

tirednhungry247 · 23/08/2019 21:13

I like Everleigh

IWouldBeSuperb · 23/08/2019 21:14

It's fine - not offensive or anything -

But if you want something unusual or uncommon then I'm not sure it ticks those boxes, there seem to be loads about!

Otterseatpuffinsdontthey · 23/08/2019 21:15

Very different - but I do like it. You and your DH love the name - definitely use it - think you'll regret not doing so. Family/friends and randoms can give their opinions, but, at the end of the day, your little girl = your decision. Rose is a lovely, old-fashioned feminine name.

Gigis · 23/08/2019 21:15

I love it! Its your daughter - you pick the name you want. Only absolute dicks with overinflated egos would tell you they hated it in real life if you introduced her as Everly once she's born.

Gustavo1 · 23/08/2019 21:15

I think it sounds pretty. I wouldn't recoil in horror if I asked a name at a group and heard “Everly”. I think describing it as horrid or horrific is a bit extreme!

Chillisauceboss · 23/08/2019 21:16

If you like it go for it. I've seen people on here say my child's name is absolutely revolting / disgusting / pity the child with that name etc. They're mostly keyboard warriors that absolutely lay into children's names. Plus you honestly can't please everyone. If you chose Jane / Ava / Olivia / Neveah or Lili-mai you would get so many mixed responses on here. If you love it then go for it and immediately block out any negative threads you see on here regarding the name in the future

strawberry2017 · 23/08/2019 21:16

I like it!

JuniperOakPark · 23/08/2019 21:16

I like it.

Call your child what you want. You can never please everybody all of the time so do what you want.

Fuck what everybody else thinks, so what is Rose is popular? My friends gave their children a middle name of Danger so they could, in the future, say Danger is my middle name and it be true.

They also called their second child a surname name but it is also the name of the man's ex-girlfriend as in it was her surname. I don't believe his wife knows that! Grin

Did I say anything? No, because it is none of my business. I don't even judge them for it, their children, their choice.

CatSmize · 23/08/2019 21:18

I think it's lovely!

Atlasta · 23/08/2019 21:21

Awful

EmmiJay · 23/08/2019 21:23

Aww I like it! Its kind of like my DD's name. Very whimsical and pretty

MondeoFan · 23/08/2019 21:23

I like it, it sounds pretty and it sounds American but I do like it. I'd go for it and people will just have to suck it up

liinnnua · 23/08/2019 21:24

More positive response than I thought wow!

Horrible. Everleigh is even worse.

MikeUniformMike · 23/08/2019 21:24

It's a bit like Beverley.
