Like all sound, no substance. As if it meant to be something else but stopped growing

How about Cassian?
I love Quinn

I wouldn't rule out names because a friend has used them. On a day to day basis that makes no difference. My best friend from school called her ds the same name as mine. It doesn't matter as we only see each other a couple of times a year and now the kids are teens and don't move in the same social circles it makes no odds at all to them.

So, Xavier, Tobias and Nathaniel - known as Toby and Nate 😁

Ooh DH and I downloaded Kinder so there might be a few more options. Torian?? Lachlan? Are they less MN ridiculey?

HappydaysArehere · 17/08/2019 10:14

Oh! Dear.
Sorry it is your choice.
Their only hope is that the names will get shortened.

Abstractedobstructed · 17/08/2019 10:14

Lachlan is fine. Cool name though I knew one born in the 70s who changed his name to Len when he was 16...what a tragedy!

Torian to me is a cross between highly desired mumsnet kitchen worktops and being a conservative party voter, so it's a no from me.

Flowerspowersy · 17/08/2019 12:48

How about Quinn and Torin?

firawla · 17/08/2019 13:52

Quinn would have me presuming girl. Never heard of Castiel

notmuchmoretogive · 17/08/2019 13:55

@SleepingStandingUp I read that as you downloaded tinder for more name suggestions Grin

Atalune · 17/08/2019 14:10

The names are a bit try hard.

Unless you are UM or A class. In which case you wouldn’t be on here asking as your innate confidence wouldn’t give 2 figs what anyone thought in the slightest.

Quinn- like. It feels female because of Glee I think.

Castile- soap, but I like it.
Icarus- he he flew to close to the sun... Russ for short?
Ignatius- the ignoramus- no

Lachlan, Lorcan, Lachtan Malachy, all lovely Irish names. Just may have some problems with English pronunciations Hmm.

Flamingosnbears · 17/08/2019 15:18

Quinn and Castiel are perfectly acceptable names... Gaius is another interesting option for you Good luck. Pair with a traditional middle incase child has a different opinion on their chosen first name.

pepperpot99 · 17/08/2019 17:19

Quinn too similar to Quim which means vajayjay. Who would call a kid that?

SleepingStandingUp · 17/08/2019 17:41

@notmuchmoretogive it may yet come to that

@pepperpot99 because I don't know anyone who refers to their vagina / vulva as that

@Atalune I appreciate that being WC I should stick to Jayden and Evie-Mai but the only thing I'm trying hard to do is find two names me and DH like enough to give to our children

OP posts:
powershowerforanhour · 17/08/2019 19:13

Do it, just for the lolz when Icarus grows up to be a pilot and does the "This is your captain speaking..." announcement.

FreshFreesias · 17/08/2019 19:16

Only call him Tristan if he's going to work in TV.

twattymctwatterson · 17/08/2019 19:41

All of your names scream "I'm sooo soo upper middle class and need everyone to know"

treeplop · 17/08/2019 19:56

Digby and Monty
Rafe and St John

still don't get the try hard comments. The only thing I'm trying to do is find two nice names DH and I both like and want to be calling ir kids by for the next 60 years

It's important that you and DH like the names, but it's much more important that your DC like them. I don't know any boys with unusual names who like them. Most of them have the piss ripped out of them at school, and end up changing/shortening their name as soon as possible.

Don't choose a cute name for a baby/small child- that's maybe 5% of their lifetimes. Chose a name that your DC will be happy to have as an older child and adult.

SleepingStandingUp · 17/08/2019 21:41

@XXcstatic ido agree with your lifetime nane

(Haven’t read all the suggestions!)

Icarus and Ignatius are too samey together but I love them both.
I LOVE Quinn but not so keen on Castiel so would go for Quinn and either Icarus or Ignatius

Quinn and Icarus are both in my top 20 names but Quinn rhymes with my surname and I was never brave enough to use Icarus
