Do you know what happened to Icarus?

How about Thing One and Thing Two?

CassianAndor · 14/08/2019 22:28

Castiel (I would assume you were a Supernatural fan) and Ignatius.

If I was going to choose a boys name beginning Cas I would go for Cassian, obviously Grin even if it is made up.

SleepingStandingUp · 14/08/2019 22:28

Do you know what happened to Icarus? but you can pick apart any name. I mean there's enough Jack's been named despite the noteriety of Jack the Ripper etc

How about Thing One and Thing Two? it may yet happen lol

Quinn I see as more of a girls name but either way it is much to close in sound to quim, so that would be a no from me.

CassianAndor · 14/08/2019 22:30

There have been billions of Jacks for it not to have one specific association, whereas there is only one Icarus anyone’s heard of. It’s an awful name to saddle someone with.

Courtney555 · 14/08/2019 22:37

Bilbo and Frodo Grin

Seriously though. Please don't name your twins any of those combinations. Speaking as an expectant mum of twins also.

I've been trawling through books and the web for ideas and names that complement each other. Yours are up there on the "dear God no" level of Scott and Charlene.

Talkwhilstyouwalk · 14/08/2019 22:50

I love strong names, just not the ones you have mentioned (sorry!)

How about Saxon and Theodore.....same 'type' of name.

MirrorrorriM · 14/08/2019 22:57

Romulus & Remus?

pepperpot99 · 14/08/2019 23:00

Willy and Dick?
Petrol and Diesel ?
Ham and Shem?
Barabbas and Judas?
Batman and Robin?

It's the thread that keeps on giving....

Cohle · 14/08/2019 23:00

I'd assume you were a Supernatural fan...

Courtney555 · 14/08/2019 23:20

Bert and Ernie?
Phil and Grant?
Laurel and Hardy?

Brakebackcyclebot · 14/08/2019 23:59

Seriously? They are all beyond dreadful.

SleepingStandingUp · 15/08/2019 00:01

@Talkwhilstyouwalk weirdly DH suggested Saxin tonight, I vetoed it. He vetoed Theodore before Ds1 was born

@Cohle you'd not be wrong

😂😂. This thread has made my afternoon. Anyway I like Quinn. A few ideas as you like different names. How about:

Quinn and Zeus
Tristan and Merlin
Tristan and Zachary
Baltazar and Quinn

TheRedFox · 15/08/2019 04:03

I'd be worried that these names are so out there that you're saddling your DS with something they will have to deal with for the rest of their lives.

I'd be worried that whenever people see or hear their names (even as adults) there will be a rolling of eyes that won't help them. That kind of summary judgment is wrong I know but does happen.

Also the story of Icarus is far too negative for me to saddle a child with that name. You refer to children being called Jack, but the difference is that Jack is a well used name and so doesn't immediately bring to mind Jack the Ripper. Icarus on the other hand is a barely used name so when people hear it they are blind to recall the legend.

Names that are difference are fine, but the overly negative connotations here mean it would be a definite no for me.

Wellandtrulyoutnumbered · 15/08/2019 06:58

I think Quinn and Tristan go well. Both Celtic names. I have a Quinn and I always liked Tristan. Think of names you like them see if they go. Quinn isn't that unusual now so don't give the other twin anything too difficult.

You will get people assuming Quinn is short for something. But you'll perfect the no it's Quinn Q-U-I-N-N yes two n's ........

There seems to be a lot of girl Quinn's about now. Two in our town recently. We also have a few boy Quinns. In fact my daughter's Welsh name is less popular than her little brothers.

CassianAndor · 15/08/2019 07:51

Xavier and Castiel??? There's a theme here.

I'd go for Bruce.

Courtney555 · 15/08/2019 08:08

FGS OP.

The names are truly awful on their own.

I don't watch a lot of TV, but from googling pp, you're picking these bizarre names from one TV series.

You may as well rename them all Chandler, Ross and Joey. Poor kids are going to be ridiculed.

Luckingfovely · 15/08/2019 08:24

Quinn, Cassius, Rufus, Caleb, Zeus, Milo?

AverageMummy · 15/08/2019 08:43

Xavier is lovely though - what’s happened to you? Grin

SleepingStandingUp · 15/08/2019 09:02

@Brot64 we adore Balthazar but decided it was too out there so that's about where our line is drawn I guess

@AverageMummy four years of sleep deprivation??

@Courtney555 there's only Castiel that we've actively taken from a TV show and that's because we like the name, not thst character. We also like Cassidy so it's def the Cass bit not the sloghy weird and confused angel thing.

And I can't name them Joey, Chandler and Ross cos there is definately only two in there. I know. They keep looking in there!!

@Luckingfovely even I think Zeus is a bit ott 😂 I crosedCaleb off my list and Milois just one of the annoying kids of that show
