So, I rung up my mum - here's how the phone call went:
Me "I just can't get over Acacia and not sure if Saskia is the one!"
Mum "Fuck these modern names, just choose Florence or Ivy or NORA, something classic."

NORA !!!
NORA IVY??? I looooove it. But then Saskia is more modern and DS is Grayson so they're very different styles. So many thoughts. What do you think?

Norah is beautiful. Ds has a friend in school called Norah and I know another two.

Aomame83 · 14/07/2019 19:56

Saskia just makes me think of the woman who his Steve over the head with an ashtray, in Eastenders in the 90's.
Acacia just makes me think of the tree, like Oak or Beech.
Nora is kind of okay... A bit granny-ish, but in the same way loads of granny names are coming back for little kids. Like Ethel...

Aomame83 · 14/07/2019 19:56

Mabel is cute...

CatteStreet · 14/07/2019 19:57

Saskia 'chavvy'? Confused
(Quite apart from the fact that I hate the term 'chavvy')

Love Saskia. Nora is hipster, as is Mabel. Astrid's nice.
Acacia Avenue.

starzig · 14/07/2019 20:00

Love Acacia and Nora. Saskia is a bit table dancer.

Ploppymoodypants · 14/07/2019 20:03

Oh I love Nora and Nora Ivy is beautiful. Why does it matter was DS is called? Why do they need to match?
DD1 has a Victorian name and DD2 has one that’s American and so unusual that everyone thinks its made up (it isn’t)
🤷🏼‍♀️

Ploppymoodypants · 14/07/2019 20:03

P.s. I really like Saskia too 😁

BluebellsareBlue · 14/07/2019 20:08

What about anora? I love that name it maybe spelled Ahnora I'm not sure

BluebellsareBlue · 14/07/2019 20:10

Or maybe it's Anorah...

Knittedfairies · 14/07/2019 20:31

I like Annorah too.

Tavannach · 14/07/2019 20:34

I like Mabel better than Nora.
Of all the names you've mentioned I like Astrid best.

FriarTuck · 14/07/2019 20:39

What about anora?
You know that would changed to Anorak at school....

Fivefootoffun · 14/07/2019 20:42

Saskia is a fabulous name - love it. Nora is very pretty too though!

FenellaMaxwell · 14/07/2019 20:42

Why don’t you wait until she’s here and you’ve met her?

Dinosaursdontgrowontrees · 14/07/2019 20:53

Astrid is totally fabulous and goes so well with Grayson.
Mabel is great, I love it but it’s definitely a marmite sort of name do be prepared for a few Hmm faces!
Saskia is ok, I don’t love it. It sounds a bit harsh.
Nora.. not keen. As someone else said it’s s bit dowdy. I wouldn’t want to be called Nora.
Acacia is really bad. Please don’t do that to your baby.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 14/07/2019 20:54

Nora's horrible. Very unfriendly and harsh. Its not even the sort of name where its that awful its adorable such as Maude or Gertie for example.
Your mum has her day naming her kids. Its none of her business.
If she loves the name Nora so much why didn't she give it to one of her own kids.

Yellowweatherwarning · 14/07/2019 21:12

The phrase bloody Nora would put me off tbh.

timeforakinderworld · 14/07/2019 21:16

Oh I love Nora and Nora Ivy is beautiful.

Maybe it's just me but it is really difficult to say.

bridgetreilly · 14/07/2019 21:44

OP, you are not helping yourself make a decision by constantly posting here and being swayed by random internet people. Find a name that you and your partner like, stop fixating on THE ONE TRUE NAME TO RULE THEM ALL, and calm down about it.

AtillatheHun · 14/07/2019 21:47

Saskia!

SheldonandMama · 14/07/2019 22:01

If you like Nora but aren't sure, what about Nina or Thora?

BlueMerchant · 14/07/2019 22:08

Scrap them all (especially Acacia)and start again.

QuickRedFox · 14/07/2019 22:08

Noa
Cassia
Assia
Callia

Time40 · 14/07/2019 22:22

I love Nora Ivy.

I like Saskia.

I've never heard the name Acacia. It sounds like a garden plant.

Mabel still sounds too old-lady to me

...but how about Enid? I think that's due for a comeback

ErrolTheDragon · 14/07/2019 22:32

...but how about Enid? I think that's due for a comeback

You cannot be serious ...

Nora was my late MILs first name, she disliked it so much that she went by her middle name. An 'old lady' name old ladies didn't like....

Astrid is very nice.
