So, I rung up my mum - here's how the phone call went:
Me "I just can't get over Acacia and not sure if Saskia is the one!"
Mum "Fuck these modern names, just choose Florence or Ivy or NORA, something classic."

NORA !!!
NORA IVY??? I looooove it. But then Saskia is more modern and DS is Grayson so they're very different styles. So many thoughts. What do you think?

I like Saskia, Florence and Ivy but I don't really like Acacia or Nora at all, especially Nora which just makes me think of something "gnawing"! Saskia Florence would be a very pretty name IMO.

Cookit · 15/07/2019 19:12

Like Nora, Florence and Saskia. Like Ivy as a middle. Do not like Acacia although I could be pronouncing it completely wrong.

I love Nora!
Funny that your mum is suggesting Florence and Ivy as classic names, as they’re very on trend at the moment

SlipperOrchid · 15/07/2019 20:05

I would not like to be named Nora. And it makes absolutely no difference if you say ‘It’s Nora Ivy’ unless you expect to call her both names as her first name. Nora is a dull dowdy name. There are three of them in my family so it isn’t a ‘newly fashionable old lady name’. It is a dull dowdy name.

Astrid is really pretty.

That is so weird - I had a hospital appointment today and a lady who looked about 80 was called in before, her name was Nora and I absolutely fell in love with it on the spot! Haven't heard it for ages, then the lady today and now you! Think it's gorgeous OP!

ThatCurlyGirl · 15/07/2019 20:27

Mabel is gorgeous too - you have fab taste

ThatCurlyGirl · 15/07/2019 20:28

OP how about Letty, Peggy or Dot/Dotty? Another couple of favourites of mine 😊

Luckingfovely · 15/07/2019 20:39

I love the ideas of a) binning your whole list, and b) a pp with brilliant taste who suggested: Xanthe, Esme, Daphne, Olympia. All gorgeous. Or Lydia, Eleanora, Cassandra. And Pippa is great with Grayson as another pp said.

Acacia and Nora are both dreadful.

BloomsButtons · 15/07/2019 21:02

What about Allegra?

Wolfff · 15/07/2019 22:29

I love Saskia but I'm biased. Astonished that people think it is 'chavvy' or 'modern', it's a classic Dutch name, Rembrandt's wife was called Saskia. The Dutch pronunciation is closer to Suskia, which is the way I pronounce it.

Antonin · 15/07/2019 23:55

I dislike Nora.
Gnaw a bone

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 16/07/2019 00:05

Acacia?? As in Avenue? Why would you want to call your daughter after a middle class suburban street!

Rachelover40 · 16/07/2019 01:29

I agree with Wolff about 'Saskia', excellent name and quite classic.
Acacia? Never in a million years, might as well call her 'Cul-de'Sac'.
