what do people think of the name, Season

I really like this name. It means fertile and I like that it has a growth name meaning. Jackson means son of Jack and so Season sounds like son of the sea which I love. I also like the feeling of the seasons of your life with bringing a human being into the world. Season also sounds a bit like Caesar and I like the fact that the second S sounds a bit like a Z. For a girl I think season has a cool nature vibe too and Alison, Addison don't sound masculine so Season certainly wouldn't and it sounds a bit alternative. I've never heard of this being a name though and I wonder if anyone else has. It does come up on a baby meaning list but I hadn't heard it

I can’t really think anything other that WTAF because clearly it’s not a name. Don’t be ridiculous.

Butterfly005 · 24/06/2019 17:15

It's a little strange but potentially quite pretty, and people will get used to it.

If your heart is set on it, go for it.

Bluntness100 · 24/06/2019 17:20

Really if you're serious, and I hope you're not. Please don't call your child this. If you like it so much start calling yourself season, but don't name your child it, that's not fair on the child.

I really don't understand why people wish to do this to their children. Give them daft names. It's not funny, it's not cool and it's not big or clever.

Your child is a person in their own right. No one wants to be called season and their school years will be shit.

StarbucksSmarterSister · 24/06/2019 17:21

Kurt Russell was married to Season Hubley before he met Goldie Hawn. She's the only one I've ever heard of.

”What do people think of the name, Season?”

It is NOT a name.

You are opening your child up to a lifetime of hassle and ridicule, @dolphin50.

Season means a time of the year, to add salt or pepper to food, or, of animals, to be in heat.

Do you want your dd being asked if she is ‘in heat’, because if her name? Really???

It is cruel to do this to a child.

StarbucksSmarterSister · 24/06/2019 17:43

Even worse (I just looked this up) Season Hubley had a brother called Whip . That poor boy.

Ginger1982 · 24/06/2019 18:12

@MikeUniformMike yeah she said she was pretty definitely going to use it and that parents should 'follow their hearts' or some other shite.

MikeUniformMike · 24/06/2019 18:29

Thanks @Ginger1982

ZeldaPrincessOfHyrule · 24/06/2019 18:32

This is bloody hilarious, it absolutely cannot be real. I think we've got another Balonz.

dolphin50 · 24/06/2019 19:20

Season seems like a marmite name. Either people love it or hate it. I happen to love it. Its interesting that people think I couldn't be serious but then I guess all names take a while to get used to. Names like Rose or Forest probably started off as being seen as "but thats a flower" or "thats a wood, not a name" but those are now mainstream. We are thinking of going for the name Season Oakley as the first and middle name. I wouldn't criticise the names John and Janet or celebrity names like Apple and Psalm. It is a parents personal choice and if the child doesn't like it they can change it sonny/sunny or something completely different as an adult but I love the sound of it personally and I have had mostly positive reviews in real life. Rainbow, Sandy and Cozi were other ones we liked. Lots of people look for unranked, unique names

It's great, they will never have to sign a Christmas card.

dolphin50 · 24/06/2019 19:29

Yes, I love the christmas theme feel. Such a family, positive time

Not actually responding to the journalist comment there then......

Frith2013 · 24/06/2019 19:34

It’s the worst name I’ve heard on MN.

Oh, my bitch is coming into season.

Awful.

dolphin50 · 24/06/2019 19:34

I am not a Journalist, I am an actress but currently on maternity break

Frith2013 · 24/06/2019 19:35

Season Oakley???

The time of year when they fell dead oak trees?

bigredvase · 24/06/2019 19:35

It's not 'marmite' no one except you loves it.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 24/06/2019 19:35

I imagine you would dread Christmas if your name was Season.

pasbeaucoupdegendarme · 24/06/2019 19:36

Oh dear goodness. It’s not a “marmite name” because it’s not a name!

And while flower names (eg Rose) have been around for centuries, I’d dispute your claim that Forest is now mainstream.

And as for Christmas being a positive, family time... maybe consider that you are lucky to find it so and many people don’t!

Frith2013 · 24/06/2019 19:36

Cozi? As in tea or toes?

Now you’re just being silly.

pasbeaucoupdegendarme · 24/06/2019 19:37

Actually, why not call the kid Marmite and be done with it?

Elderflower14 · 24/06/2019 19:38

With salt and pepper..... 😁 😁 😁 😁 😁 😁 😁 😁 😁 😁

Frith2013 · 24/06/2019 19:39

And Addison (in your OP) is a disease that causes kidney failure then death.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 24/06/2019 19:40

Susan is pretty close to season. Its also actually a name.

reefedsail · 24/06/2019 19:42

Season Ally would be better.

Season Al for nn.

Put Season Alison on the birth certificate though, as it's vulgar to use nn on a formal document.
