what do people think of the name, Season

I really like this name. It means fertile and I like that it has a growth name meaning. Jackson means son of Jack and so Season sounds like son of the sea which I love. I also like the feeling of the seasons of your life with bringing a human being into the world. Season also sounds a bit like Caesar and I like the fact that the second S sounds a bit like a Z. For a girl I think season has a cool nature vibe too and Alison, Addison don't sound masculine so Season certainly wouldn't and it sounds a bit alternative. I've never heard of this being a name though and I wonder if anyone else has. It does come up on a baby meaning list but I hadn't heard it

Good for you not being swayed I suppose.

I would keep the name to yourself until baby arrives though as you will find many people in RL have just as strong opinions as they do on here for good reason

MysweetAudrina · 24/06/2019 10:23

I like it. I mean people call their kids Summer, June, April, May, Tuesday etc... so I don't think it sounds much different to those. I think it sounds nice.

SoupDragon · 24/06/2019 10:25

To me Season is a gorgeous name and sea a beautiful nickname. I was asking if anyone had heard of it and was surprised to find that some of you have while most haven't. To all parents out there, go with your heart when naming your child.

Then change your own name to it.

Remember that you aren't naming a child, you are naming an adult human. Don't go with your heart, actually think about what you are doing. For example, your heart may love the name Mabel but if your surname is Table your child is going to have a hellish time.

Sakura7 · 24/06/2019 10:29

Out of interest OP what middle names do you have in mind? I hope it's not Mermaid or Seahorse or something equally ridiculous.

Personally I don't think Season sounds good paired with any name (middle name or surname), probably due to it not being an actual name.

Season James, or Season Emma, sounds like your child is about to be fucking marinated.

MikeUniformMike · 24/06/2019 10:39

Sgreetings woukd make a good middle name.

MikeUniformMike · 24/06/2019 10:39

would

Bishalisha · 24/06/2019 10:41

It’s a bit too out there. We had our family history done a while back and I have a relative from the 1700s called Easter, which I thought was adorable!

AverageMummy · 24/06/2019 10:43

@Sakura7 you just made me laugh out loud Grin

AverageMummy · 24/06/2019 10:46

I reckon this is a journalist - they do silly posts then when they get strong answers make a ‘story’ out of it. No chance is this person genuinely not even the tiniest bit upset or rattled by a million replies saying the name is horrific - not a normal reaction therefore not a real person.

Sakura7 · 24/06/2019 11:13

@AverageMummy I aim to please Grin

Also think you may be right that OP isn't entirely genuine.

onalongsabbatical · 24/06/2019 11:18

go with your heart when naming your child so you mean like 'thump' or 'pulse', or possibly 'valve' or 'ventricle' or possibly 'attack' or 'angina'? All fine names OP. Consider. Grin

NatashaRomanov · 24/06/2019 12:15

It's rubbish. Don't use it.
The poor kid will be teased for all time. It, until they are old enough to change their name.

NotAgainKen · 24/06/2019 12:18

this is one of those names that is all about MMMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!! and nothing at all to do with the poor child.

burritofan · 24/06/2019 12:20

It's fine but I would spell it Seezun.

TheHodgeoftheHedge · 24/06/2019 12:25

While you’re at it, just call her “menstruate” :)

TheFreaksShallInheritTheEarth · 24/06/2019 13:15

What do we "think of the name Season"?

The question doesn't make sense... Season is not a name!

babysharkah · 24/06/2019 13:16

I don't, because it's not a name. Why do that to a child.

SilverySurfer · 24/06/2019 14:11

Change your own name if you like it so much - it's bloody awful.

Flicketyboo · 24/06/2019 14:46

God please don't do that to your child!! My first thought was female dogs on heat (in season) as mine is now!

Sagradafamiliar · 24/06/2019 16:03

Saxon

Which sounds a bit like Saxo, the salt- a seasoning. Seriously though, Saxon is underrated.

MikeUniformMike · 24/06/2019 16:09

Has the OP posted anything since the opening post?

TheFreaksShallInheritTheEarth · 24/06/2019 16:45

Seriously though, Saxon is underrated

Golly yes, how cool would a Saxon be? No one would ever pick on a Saxon!
What a shame parents are more likely to use the yoonique and weedy Jaxon.

FizzyGreenWater · 24/06/2019 16:49

Dogperiod is your other option.

onalongsabbatical · 24/06/2019 17:06

I had a female cousin called Saxon, born in the early 1950s.

LarkDescending · 24/06/2019 17:07

Oestrus would be more apt, imo.
