what do people think of the name, Season

I really like this name. It means fertile and I like that it has a growth name meaning. Jackson means son of Jack and so Season sounds like son of the sea which I love. I also like the feeling of the seasons of your life with bringing a human being into the world. Season also sounds a bit like Caesar and I like the fact that the second S sounds a bit like a Z. For a girl I think season has a cool nature vibe too and Alison, Addison don't sound masculine so Season certainly wouldn't and it sounds a bit alternative. I've never heard of this being a name though and I wonder if anyone else has. It does come up on a baby meaning list but I hadn't heard it

Perhaps she means the French name 'Six ans'

NotAgainKen · 25/06/2019 10:00

It's not a Marmite name. Some people like Marmite. This is more like a... I don't know, a "polysterene packing name". As in, you could eat it, just about, but you'd have to have serious issues to want to.

NotAgainKen · 25/06/2019 10:01

Yes, I love the christmas theme feel. Such a family, positive time

Wait... surely this is proof of hairy hands. Every regular on MN knows that Yuletide is the season of flouncing, snubbing, spoiling, and unreasonable dietary requirements.

DisputedChair · 25/06/2019 10:11

The Season is a matter of debutante posh girls, the Boat Race, Henley, Badminton, Glyndebourne, Ascot, Cowes, Goodwood etc. I hope Baby Season is a Sloaney type or a Russian gazillionaire.

Monday55 · 25/06/2019 10:29

Season sounds ok for a boys name. You may aswell go for Susan if it's a girl.

NotAgainKen · 25/06/2019 12:57

disputedchair ... which would put a new spin on the phrase 'doing the Season'.

Right I know this isn’t the point of this thread but how did other people see the OP’s posts on other threads? I didn’t know you could do that! Do you search the username or something like that?

Also OP it’s not a good name choice, please think again.

greatandpowerfulozma · 26/06/2019 01:25

Actually never mind just found how Grin

OkPedro · 26/06/2019 01:37

How greatandpower ??

greatandpowerfulozma · 26/06/2019 01:44

Click search then expand the bit that says search by keyword then there is an option to search posts by a certain username. Smile

Kokeshi123 · 26/06/2019 01:54

It's really bad and yes, it makes me think of garlic salt etc.

There are lots of nice nature names out there--Savannah, Fern, Willow, Saffron...why not pick one of those?

Redglitter · 26/06/2019 12:27

and I have had mostly positive reviews in real life

That's because they're being polite & don't want to hurt your feelings. You can almost guarantee they were actually thinking wtaf

jessticulatecalmly · 26/06/2019 13:32

All the mean comments people are saying on here is exactly what their children would be saying to your child. That says alot about them. After all words as names have been going on for centuries across the globe that's how come names have meanings.
At the end of the day it's your baby and people just get used to unfamiliar names. My kids have gone to school with tiger, fox, rex, India, summer, autumn, wolf, bonny, t'vonne, hunter and Harley alongside the Roberts, Emily's and Sarah's. Ignore the hater's, as long as you and your partner love your child, everyone else can back off

Sakura7 · 26/06/2019 14:06

Ignore the hater's, as long as you and your partner love your child, everyone else can back off.

Well she did post here looking for opinions and people are telling her why it's a ridiculous 'name'. That doesn't make us 'haters', unless you're 12.

Nobody here is being mean about the child, quite the opposite in fact. We're trying to save the child from a life of hassle (and yes, almost certain bullying).

I just don't understand why a parent would willingly make their child's life difficult by giving a stupid name. Clearly the parent's wants are more important than the child's wellbeing.

EleanorOalike · 26/06/2019 14:10

I don’t see it as a name to be frank. I see it as a time of year or a verb (to season the meat etc). As a teacher, it would be one of the weirdest names I’ve come across and I would feel quite sorry for your child to have to go through life with this name. Sorry, I’m not trying to be mean, just giving my honest opinion.

allhalekale · 26/06/2019 17:11

Listen to the Jonny Cash song boy named Sue... but replace Sue with Season. Your child will really relate to this song when they’re older if you go with this name...
Random thought I thought I’d share Smile

Marty93 · 26/06/2019 17:12

Are you kidding? SEASON? it's far too try-hard and hippy.... it's NOT a name. Lol, sorry.

Rachelhaydenberk1 · 28/06/2019 03:48

My first thought was, which one? Summer, Autumn, Winter or Spring (I actually have met a girl named Spring before).

Then I realized you are saying Season is a name.

I feel like it's like naming your child Name. Like you didnt actually choose one. Sorry if that sounds mean.

I see you have a lot of reasons why you love it. For me I think it's kind of image-less because it makes me wonder which season he/she was born. It's like naming your child Month, Year, Week.

If you like ocean-inspired names or nature names there are so many with better imagery. If you just like the sound of the word Season then I guess thats fair but maybe just do Cesar? My cousin is dating a guy named Ocean and it's really grown on me!

islanderin · 28/06/2019 12:29

OP I like it. There are lots of delicious names about: Mint, Bracken, Willow, Brandy, Bramble, Apple, Cherry, Blossom, Honey, and our bridesmaid in Tobago was called Treacle... perhaps when you see (sea... Blue, Aqua, Ocean)... his little face you'll know? xo

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 28/06/2019 13:02

If you were a celebrity no one would back an eyelid. I mean Blue? (beyonce) Apple (Gwyneth) North (Kardashians)

If you really love dont let anyone stop you but yeah...I think the problem would be other people.

There are other water or elemental names:

Coral/Coraline
Siren (mermaid myths)
Storm
Winter
Rain
Summer...you get the drift

YourWinter · 28/06/2019 23:58

I wonder if the OP is coming back but from their posts on other threads perhaps the baby whose name is to be decided, the husband and the four older children might be imaginary!

This, posted on 12/02/19 on a thread from 2014 about home education:
"I am 24 now and i have no friends, social life, job down to anxiety, depression and finding it hard to click with people (.......)
i want to act and travel and find someone and have great friends and a family one day. getting a job however seems so hard with my lack of energy. i try and lie and pretend things are alright to the people who knew me in the past. (.....) theres this pressure on people our age that we should be having the time of our life and i get scared that when my mum talks about travelling and feeling free in her youth i won't have that and i want to be crazy and then have kids."

But in April 2018:
bedales, canford or wellington (4 Posts)
Me and my dh are deciding on senior schools for our son and daughter. these are the three schools we like the most and their prep has links with these schools as well.(.....)

In April 2019 she says she is an actress, in May 2019 she is interviewing for a teaching assistant post (good luck affording those senior school fees!).

Isn't there a fine line between an actress and a drama queen? I do think OP has a very fertile imagination and hope real life happiness will be more fulfilling than fantasy.

I still don't think Season is a name!

anon812 · 01/07/2019 12:39

@YourWinter LOL a fantasy indeed!! 😂😂😂 I think the post from feb is most likely true and maybe the others including this one are made up

Louise7777 · 01/07/2019 12:39

Nope
