Really? And you don't think Bowie will sound Chavvie???

Antigonads · 26/02/2018 19:21

How are you pronouncing it.

Like low or now?

SuburbanRhonda · 26/02/2018 19:22

Naming your child after one of the most talented, unique, groundbreaking musicians of the last 100 years?

Just no.

junkfoodforever · 26/02/2018 19:22

Love it. That & Ziggy

JackieReacher · 26/02/2018 19:24

There will be a lot of them around... (paul Weller's wife to blame!) in the same way there are hoarded of 12 yr okd(ish) Jaggers
I love it

Elocutioner · 26/02/2018 19:26

How about David?

DramaAlpaca · 26/02/2018 19:27

You lost me at 'some chav'. What an offensive thing to say.

formerbabe · 26/02/2018 19:30

It sounds incredibly hipster/try hard/pretentious, a little bit like how you sound judging by this comment.

Every one we think of either me or dh knows some chav we don't like with that name

Grumpyoldblonde · 26/02/2018 19:33

Ridiculous and your chav comments are awful.

NotWithABang · 26/02/2018 19:34

Ridiculous, and people aren't chavs just because you don't like them! What an awful classist thing to say.

I think it's cool but a bit girly

pilates · 26/02/2018 19:46

Awful name to lumber a child/adult with

mimibunz · 26/02/2018 19:48

Pretentious and try hard.

nancy75 · 26/02/2018 19:48

Nobody knows how to say it!
Just buy a name book and find a proper name

italiancortado · 26/02/2018 19:49

Don't do it. It's so desperate.

cjferg · 26/02/2018 19:50

Ok - the chav part didn't really have anything to do with the names, just where we are from. Apologies, didn't mean to offend.

Antigonads
Pronounced like now

Elocutioner
My dad is called David and both my grandads - don't really want to go down that route.

alltheworld · 26/02/2018 19:50

David Bowie took his name after a Bowie knife

overnightangel · 26/02/2018 19:52

Another vote for “try hard”
Also for thinking you’re a snobby twat re your “chav” comment.

Sarahh2014 · 26/02/2018 19:53

Not a nice name and will always get mispronounced

NerrSnerr · 26/02/2018 19:53

I'm not keen, I agree that it sounds try hard.

ConorMcGregorsChin · 26/02/2018 19:56

Go for it. If you like it, ignore anyone else.
And as for anyone who thinks it's 'chavvy
Do you care? Do what you feel.
I never felt the need to run my child's name past anyone. Because I couldn't give a fuck what other people think.
Be happy

Speedy85 · 26/02/2018 19:58

I don’t like it (or the ‘chav’ comment Hmm)

Also, David Bowie pronounced his name to rhyme with ‘doughy’, so if you pronounce it to rhyme with ‘Towie’ it will look like you are both pretentious and don’t actually know what you’re talking about. Well done.

Speedy85 · 26/02/2018 20:00

And as for anyone who thinks it's 'chavvy

Other people aren’t saying Bowie is chavvy. The OP was saying every other boy’s name is chavvy! Confused

JackieReacher · 26/02/2018 20:01

I take it back - you're pronouncing it wrong!
