Just a post for fun

I’m wondering if anyone had any names they would have loved to have called their DC but either didn’t use it because it was too out there or they changed their mind last minute

Mine would be Rocket - part of me is desperate to still use it with next DC

Etta

Everybody was Hmm but I still adore it!

PointlessUsername · 04/02/2018 23:11

Ryder for me too. Let DH talk me out of it, i still wish i had called DS it.

Justkeepleft · 04/02/2018 23:18

For dd Aster. Didn't work with ds's name when we tried calling them together . She has a name no one has ever heard of so I guess we are brave in the end.

hollowtree · 04/02/2018 23:20

Melanie I know of at least two little Etta’s under five, you should have done it!!

I love girls names - Persephone, Helena, seraphina

ds was
Not a girl Sad and ended up with a top ten for the last gazillion years name

pollysproggle · 04/02/2018 23:27

Allegra!
Still love it now but as we're from Peckham and have a very boring English surname it didn't make the cut ☹️

I LOVE some of these names!

Mine was Tiger.
He ended up a William 😂

mammymammyIRL · 04/02/2018 23:31

Lily just because of our surname but another family with same surname have recently used it & I don't know if I applaud them for their bravery or fear for the child being mocked at school Grin

WhingyNinja · 04/02/2018 23:33

Astrid, Eloise and Elspeth. Not exactly not brave enough, they just didn't feel right when I was pregnant with my daughter!

xyzandabc · 04/02/2018 23:35

Liberty for a girl and Thor for a boy.
Eldest was very nearly liberty (Libby) and youngest very nearly William Thor however neither became either of those.

salukish · 04/02/2018 23:39

@mammymammyIRL is your surname White or what? Grin

Panting · 04/02/2018 23:40

Ignatius.
Loveday.
Ursula.

Lennythelion14 · 04/02/2018 23:40

Applebags me and husband had a similar problem. I like older names or unusual and he likes modern or popular ones. In the end with his uncommon surname with went with something different (but not unusual),cause we both knew the pain of having a common 1st name and uncommon surname, you end either being known by your surname or a nickname you don't like Grin.

Buntysoven · 04/02/2018 23:40

Demelza. Boo to you, Poldark!

BakedBeans47 · 04/02/2018 23:43

Orlando

Mumontherocks1 · 04/02/2018 23:43

Saskia, hardly way out there but at that time where I'm from it would have been seen as either pretentious or chavy. I have half regretted not going for it over the years. DD didn't really like her name until she was about 15 but she loves it now thank God.

Kintan · 04/02/2018 23:49

Eartha!

Dixiestampsagain · 05/02/2018 00:02

Kennedy and Anastasia.

TriHard27 · 05/02/2018 00:03

Rafferty. DH still maintains it's a dog's name.

mammymammyIRL · 05/02/2018 09:51

@salukish no but it starts with Lu Grin
