How on earth do I name this baby girl!?

I am so stressed right now Sad she's 5 weeks and 2 days. We can't agree on anything. He says he doesn't like any name apart from Lily 🙄 Lily is okay but definitely not a name that I see her being. I really love April but he says that as she was born so close to April it would just be stupid and that her nickname would become 'Ape/Apes' Confused

She doesn't even look like either name tbh so I don't really know what to do. He likes Kiera and I think it's okay if spelt Ciara but still not 100% and he doesn't like it spelt like that as he thinks people will spell and pronounce it wrong.

So lost right now.

We both quite like Mollie (he hates the y spelling 🙄) but will she be Mols (sounds like moles???)

Help!!

I think until you really start using her name, you won't feel it.
Why not try out Mollie for a day, and Kiara the next.
I've never heard of an April called Apes 😂
I do like Lily though.
Similar names ; Cara, Holly, Avril, Lyra/Lila.

bridgetreilly · 20/06/2017 22:07

Kiera and Ciara aren't really the same name at all.

OvariesBeforeBrovaries · 20/06/2017 22:09

The obvious thing to do is to show us a picture so that we can squeal in delight while our ovaries explode help you pick the right name for her Grin Congratulations on your new baby!

groclockshmoclock · 20/06/2017 22:11

I know it's nothing like your others, but what about Cleo?

BridgeMichaels · 20/06/2017 22:12

@Sugarpiehoneyeye thank you

@bridgetreilly ??? They're both pronounced the same... It's just one is the Irish spelling and 1 is anglicised???

@OvariesBeforeBrovaries Grin I'll get a pic 1 sec

April is lovely. No one will care what month she was born in and I'm alarmist certain no one will call her 'Apes'.

Mothervulva · 20/06/2017 22:13

Almost.

MiddleClassProblem · 20/06/2017 22:13

Is there any form of nickname you're giving her at the moment?

Fwiw my close friend is a Ciara and DD middle name is too. Both have been Miss pronounced as Kee ah ra or sierra. Not a huge issue for DD but for my Irish friend it gets iratating living in the U.K.

The secret is to get your name in in those few moments after birth when he will agree to anything you want.
Lily is very common at the moment. Kiera or Ciara are both lovely.

wizzler · 20/06/2017 22:19

How about Bridie if you like names ending with "ie"?

wizzler · 20/06/2017 22:19

Or Cecily... ?

anxietyrus · 20/06/2017 22:21

I looooove mollie!

noenemee · 20/06/2017 22:21

It's so hard if you both feel you're having to compromise.

Just as an idea, have you thought about Cerys. Means 'love' which is nice.

Anyway, congratulations Flowers

HainaultViaNewburyPark · 20/06/2017 22:22

From the names you have suggested, my favourite is April. I don't think it matters that her birthday isn't in April. How about Avril as an alternative?

Would he go for something similar to Keira? Maybe Kara/Cara, Kyla or Cora?

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 20/06/2017 22:22

We have a Mollie at school and she is Mollypops or Mollywobbles affectionately

BridgeMichaels · 20/06/2017 22:24

Sorry I wasn't sure which one to post! She looks super happy in this one

Call her Mollie if you both like it. You can't get too hung up on potential nicknames (and, for the record, Molls doesn't sound like moles). Congratulations on your new baby!

iemma321q · 20/06/2017 22:26

So cute! Looks like a mollie to me.

LizzieMacQueen · 20/06/2017 22:28

My niece Molly gets called 'molls' and going against other posters I think April would be odd on a child born in May.

Cora or Cara or Carrie/Carys.
