ShockNames ending in -son
ShockBoys' names given to girls
ShockAnything with a weird spelling such as Makayla

(So sorry to all those I've offended...)

Muddlingalongalone · 26/02/2017 20:20

Old man names for me on babies - Stanley, Arthur etc, oh and Alfie & Archive for no reason at all.
Both of my dd's names are on this thread & I'm not offended. There are also names that I love on here. Each to their own

TryAnotherUsername · 26/02/2017 20:20

Two of my children have been named on this thread Grin

I hate the name Ian, sounds weird and looks weird.

Rockaby · 26/02/2017 20:21

Archive??? Grin

Ankleswingers · 26/02/2017 20:23

Can't stand Ethan or Callum or Tyler.

Just yuk.

Or Sebastian, Noah, Harley, Mason, Seth, Ellis and Theodore.

Skye, Darcey or Courtney are just awful for girls names.

Ackvavit · 26/02/2017 20:24

Olivia - loved it as a child as I'd seen Olivia de Havilland in Gone with the Wind but now it's akin to Julie, Tracey and Sharon in the 1970s, just far too common . I don't mind Olivia but I don't like , Liv, Libby, and pet hate Olive - not hugely fond of Oliver as a boysname for similar shortenings. Madeleine shortened to Maddie is also a dislike for me.

BadToTheBone · 26/02/2017 20:26

I really don't like Alexandra/Alexander, which is s hugely unpopular opinion on MN, as it is greatly loved and suggested.

Ackvavit · 26/02/2017 20:27

However I did hear a mum call Audrey to a gorgeous toddler at my local pool recently and it both suited her and sounded very classy. I hasten to add the little girl in question was adorable.

fluentinsarcasm · 26/02/2017 20:27

Any lovely name that is butchered by lazy pronunciation

Upyourdaisy · 26/02/2017 20:27

Chanelle.

None of my dc's names have been mentioned. 1 of them is 'unusual/different' one is an old lady name, but not one of the popular ones and the other we just don't hear much where we live.

Longdistance · 26/02/2017 20:27

Finley.

If I hear another twat scream 'Fin' at their kid, it'd be too soon.

Sorry, gives me the rage, as that's the only name I hear being screamed at full volume as the little shit has done something.

As you were...

FourToTheFloor · 26/02/2017 20:28

I love names a little different. When I hear Jack, Olivia, Noah, Ella I just think urgh, done to death.

But I know the British mc hate names that aren't hundreds of years old and spelt 'correctly' Smile

Cantusethatname · 26/02/2017 20:28

Neve. (spelt like that)
Also Jayden.

Loyly · 26/02/2017 20:31

Harris. It's like slang for 'arse' in some places, Rolf Harris, and a brand. Plus I dislike surnames and places as first names. To me, it's the all-round worst.

WhiskeySourpuss · 26/02/2017 20:33

Erin & Mirren they just sound awful to me

DD1's name has been mentioned but it's usually DD2's name being suggested is a dogs name on these kind of threads so that's a nice change Grin

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 26/02/2017 20:33

I'm quite surprised that only one of my DCs has been mentioned so far. Not bad for 3 pages in! Grin

The names I irrationally dislike are;

Olivia
Pippa
Petra
Alice
Jessica

Elliott
Rupert
Quentin
Kyle

MamaHanji · 26/02/2017 20:33

I got a bit offended Juju when you said Alice as that's my daughters name and I love it. But when you said you have synesthesia, it made me realise my Alice can be a sour a little lemon at times! I really like classic names. Anything like

Brayley
Brayden
Jenson
Kayden
Teah
Lily-mai (I know about 9)
Darcy
Gracie-may/Rae/lee (very common around here)

The two best worst names I know are both from girls I went to school with

Donny-lee
Ernie-Boi

Babyroobs · 26/02/2017 20:34

Jayden, Cayden , anything hypnenated like Lillie - Mae, Dolcie - Mae etc Harley, Darcy, Harrison, Belle.

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 26/02/2017 20:35

Whiskey I'd hazard a guess at your DD2's name being the same as my DD Wink.

WhiskeySourpuss · 26/02/2017 20:36

Ooh now I want to know Santa

Musicinthe00ssucks · 26/02/2017 20:36

Anything with a hyphenated Mae/May/Mai Any name with an 'ay' e.g. Jayden, Kayleigh, Brayden etc.

Sorry if I've offended anyone.

Bellebullerebelle · 26/02/2017 20:36

Came on to nod or shake my head in quiet (dis)agreement and there's my child's name. thought we'd found a rare ish name then as soon as we register it we start hearing it everywhere! it's threads like this that have caused the near extinction of Garys and Keiths. Shame on you!

MorningHeavyWeight · 26/02/2017 20:37

I'm not going to add the names I dislike as I think the lighthearted aspect of this thread is impossible to achieve.

However I do have a query about the objection to surnames as first names. Do the names James, Grant, Thomas etc invoke the same irritation as the 'son' suffix names listed as examples above? If not, why not?

EggysMom · 26/02/2017 20:38

I've just seen the name Shivaun .... Seriously, if you're going to use the name, at least spell it correctly!!

MumBod · 26/02/2017 20:39

Tara. It makes me cringe and sounds like a spoilt spaniel.
