Full house here.

My name, DS, DP and DD. Also have my parents names mentioned!!

Do I win a prize?

inappropriateraspberry · 28/02/2017 12:38

Thought it was just my dd's name on here, then wham bam! Me, my dad and a sister! All very traditional names - not offended, but a little surprised. But I f we all liked the same things it would be a very boring world!

LarrytheCucumber · 28/02/2017 12:39

Probably Crunchymum
Do I get extra points for having a brother in law named Alan?
So far DD and DH have escaped, but if I wait long enough no doubt they will be mentioned.

LarrytheCucumber · 28/02/2017 12:41

My mother (whose name I have just spotted) has a totally irrational dislike of Susan.

A couple of posts in this thread, could be deemed culturally insensitive, for example I've seen one post listing names which are predominately associated with Afro-Caribbean communities. Just because some names aren't part of 'white culture', doesn't make them bad.

FriendlyPolecat · 28/02/2017 13:36

I saw that post as well WhenLove but you don't know that it wasn't written by someone from that culture. If it wasn't then you've got a point but who knows

That happens all the time on here. It's frustrating.

If you're referencing my post WhenLove (as I'm fairly sure that you are) typically, the intention has gotten lost in translation.

If you actually read the post, nowhere did I mock or look down upon that particular culture. I even added that I quite liked some of the names on that list. It was added more as an example of unusual names that might not be to everyone's tastes.

So you're right, just because they are not to everyone's tastes it doesn't make them bad. And I never said it did.

TheTartOfAsgard · 28/02/2017 14:09

I don't understand the 'culturally insensitive' comment. Are you only allowed to dislike names within your own culture then? This isn't a thread about 'bad' names, just ones that make your toes curl. I don't particularly like the names Beyoncé or Pocahontas but that doesn't automatically mean its because they're not 'white' names.

Littlepiglittlepig3letmeIN · 28/02/2017 14:19

It seems that way. I have seen one particular name mentioned a few times. I don't like it. I don't care whether the person who has it is black, white or sky blue pink.
I don't like the name.

The I Like To Search For Offense In Every Little Thing are very active today.

FifiLeBoo · 28/02/2017 14:24

Ds1 has been mentioned , dull apparently, hey ho

Dd1 has been mentioned too, spelt differently though oh and horror of horrors they share an initial!!

My dad has also popped up

I personally hate my own name and rarely use it, it does make my toes curl when I hear it. I've never seen it come up in a baby name thread

kissmewherethesundontshine · 28/02/2017 14:26

Danielle

Makes me think of mould!! I have no idea why Confused

OvariesBeforeBrovaries · 28/02/2017 14:28

Mine was on the first page, I consider that an achievement Grin

copperpipe · 28/02/2017 14:29

It seems to me to be the typical intentional missing the point that is prevalent on threads like this.

Are you only allowed to dislike names within your own culture then?
Apparently so. Though how can anyone be sure of what culture any posters belong to?
Would a person from, say, Pakistan be slammed for saying they don't like the name Rebecca? Or a poster from Korea be told off for saying that their least favourite name was Vladimir?

Similarly, how do you know I'm not from the Caribbean? Or Russia? Or Micronesia???

RortyCrankle · 28/02/2017 14:33

So many:

Place names
Last names
Hyphenated
Anything with Mae/Rae/Leigh hyphenated
Is there any child left in the country who doesn't have the name Rose as first, second third or hyphenated name?
Chavy names - you KNOW what they are
Drinks and cars - Chardonnay, Porche etc
Made up, 'yoonique' names
Most old lady names - eg Maud, Mabel, Ethel, Edith
Giving your female baby a male name - WTF!
Irish names spelled incorrectly - eg Neve, Shevaunne
Winter, Spring, Autumn, Summer
Sharon. Tracey, Keith, Roy, Brian, Barry, Doreen, Jessica, Ryan, Jaden, Caiden, Kaden, Shirley, too many to mention
Names from other cultures if you have no link to that culture

Nevaeh, heaven spelt backwards!!! WTF.

pinkjumper · 28/02/2017 14:39

Nevaeh

A kid as a toddler group has this name.

The mother loves to tell everyone it is Heaven spelled backwards.

It's not even uncommon I've heard of a few.

ShowMeWhatYouGot · 28/02/2017 14:39
