Yoshi or Taiga?

Sister is Sakura Smile

We love Taiga (it makes us think of the forest) so it goes well with his sister's name. Have always loved Yoshi though.

Which would you pick? Thank you!

Neither. Sorry.

EssentialHummus · 11/02/2017 23:08

I prefer Yoshi. Taiga looks like a creative spelling of Tiger.

Moosieloo · 11/02/2017 23:08

ShockConfused

Neither isn't an option... These are our final 2 Hmm

I assume that there is Japanese heritage?

LotisBlue · 11/02/2017 23:09

Yoshi is a dinosaur in the Mario games to me

How do you pronounce taiga?

Heratnumber7 · 11/02/2017 23:09

What nationality are you? Isn't Yoshi a kind of cartoon creature?

Sunflower1985 · 11/02/2017 23:10

Yoshi. I love Japanese names.

Moosieloo · 11/02/2017 23:10

He is Japanese Smile as are we!

I love Yoshi! Am assuming the family has Japanese heritage?

Wadingthroughsoup · 11/02/2017 23:11

Oooh, crossed posts!

Heratnumber7 · 11/02/2017 23:11

Thought so en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yoshi

HoratioNightboy · 11/02/2017 23:12

I love Yoshi as it makes me think of the mighty Toranaga in Shōgun. Taiga is nice too.

Heratnumber7 · 11/02/2017 23:12

You should probably ask Japanese people's opinion. Neither sound right to the anglo saxon ear. Where do you live?

Moosieloo · 11/02/2017 23:13

Taiga is said how it looks Smile we are so torn. We think they are both beautiful. Thank you for your answers!

Sakura is a beautiful name & I think yoshi goes very well Smile

Moosieloo · 11/02/2017 23:14

We live in Surrey.

I love both but I don't think Yoshi is a good idea here really, as it will always be associated with Mario.

I LOVE Taiga (as does DD - favourite anime character I think?) and Sakura.

I wish I could use Japanese names. DD wants me to have a baby called Takumi. :)

Moosieloo · 11/02/2017 23:15

Thank you @namechange20050 we knew that would be her name from day 1 Smile

Japanese names are beautiful. I taught English to some lovely Japanese girls many years ago and they all had gorgeous names. My favourites were Yumi (of which there were loads!), Maiko, Sayuri and Yuki.

Wadingthroughsoup · 11/02/2017 23:30

Sakura is beautiful. Not one I've heard before but really lovely.

LovingLola · 11/02/2017 23:32

Moosieloo - I want to apologise to you. I posted without thinking and never considered that you were Japanese. I am sorry for being so crass.

OneWithTheForce · 11/02/2017 23:32

You should probably ask Japanese people's opinion.

Fucking hell! Like there are only English people on MN? Hmm

IamAporcupine · 11/02/2017 23:34

I work with a Yoshi Smile
I think it goes well with Sakura too

OneWithTheForce · 11/02/2017 23:34

I prefer Taiga. What does Sakura mean? We have a brand of product in my work that is called Sakura.

Wadingthroughsoup · 11/02/2017 23:34

OneWIthTheForce, I thought that was quite staggeringly rude too!
