I do love Alabama and Clarence though and True Romance is by far my favourite Tarantino film though. But it was only written by Tarantino and directed by Tony Scott so maybe that's why!

dailymaillazyjournos · 11/05/2016 14:41

I agree if jars somewhat with your other dc's names.
I think BamBam (as in the Flintstones) is a lovely nn for Alabama when dd is small.

As far as States in US go i prefer, Arizona (as in Raising Arizona), Madison (Bridges of), Dakota (as in Fanning), Carolina.

But if you have your heart set on Alabama, which you sound as if you do, go for it.

HumbleCrumble · 11/05/2016 15:16

I can't help reading it in a comedy Southern accent, but my main worry would be the potential nicknames. Bam, BamBam, Bammie etc. Where I'm from, "bam" means idiot or chav. Not ideal if she ever ventures to Scotland.

FinnigansCake · 11/05/2016 19:35

If you had a boy, he could be Kentucky.
Especially as your surname isn't Sanders.
Not being ironic or anythingWink

butteredmuffin · 11/05/2016 20:25

Middle names Fried and Chicken?

raeray · 14/10/2016 06:57

Just going through my watched threads OP and wondered did you have a little Alabama in the end? Smile

Laineymc7 · 14/10/2016 07:05

I know someone called Albana Alba for short. Lovely name and similar to what you like. I'm not keen on Alabama sorry.

Ankleswingers · 14/10/2016 07:10

I'm with humblecrumble.

I'm sure Tom Hanks said it loads in Forest Gump.

I don't like it at all.

Ankleswingers · 14/10/2016 07:13

Grin Mrsw28

Yes, that's exactly it!!

Raines100 · 14/10/2016 07:14

Think the OP is due imminently, and last we heard, was debating Leocadia/Leocadie, which are 100% improvements on Alabama!

Hope you and baby are doing well, Ellen . Would be lovely to hear when baby has arrived safely and of your final decision on the name Smile

SoupDragon · 14/10/2016 07:52

I can not believe that these threads are serious. I hope they aren't!

Have you ever been to Alabama? Do you have any connection to native Americans? Do you know that most university parties in the US will feature a drink called an "Alabama Slamma"? Alabama is not a very nice place (sorry!) and doesn't have many positive associations so that alone would put me off.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 14/10/2016 09:35

Jeez !

HouseworkIsASin10 · 14/10/2016 15:48

You asked for opinions.
It's shite.

lljkk · 14/10/2016 16:21

Just because I admire OP's style, I'm giving Alabama the thumbs up.
It makes me think of the song or the country music band more than the US state.

MadameDePomPom · 14/10/2016 16:41

I just want to yell 'Ay-la-bay-mah, you git yourself in here now y'hear?' in an awful cod Southern accent.

MrsRaymondReddington · 14/10/2016 17:04

I really like it! It's very similar to the name I chose that I have now decided against because I made the mistake of asking people's opinions!

mycatstares · 14/10/2016 17:08

Sweet home Alabama, where the skies are so blue...

No just no.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 14/10/2016 17:09

wtffgs · 14/10/2016 17:09

Is your surname Myself? Grin

mycatstares · 14/10/2016 17:09

It's the sort of name that Mickhyla-Mae's mum would choose.

Made me lolGrin

Buntysoven · 15/10/2016 01:23

I've been to Alabama and found it horrible. Sorry but the name conjures up mosquitoes stinking swamps and really rude people

BradleyPooper · 15/10/2016 01:28

Sorry, I've been to Alabama, (live next door in Texas) and it's one of the poorest states in the USA. Even here, it's a real redneck name and I would imagine her living in a trailer with a guy called Billy Bob. Please don't.

GiddyOnZackHunt · 15/10/2016 01:44

I would so pick Alabama if you always said it like Alabama Worley does.
I love that film.
I hope you picked Alabama Magdalena.
