I wanted to use Lavinia, but my XH vetoed it Angry

mouldycheesefan · 05/02/2016 12:39

Why wouldn't you use them? I know children called those names. Nice names. Shame not to use them!

madamlala · 05/02/2016 12:40

Xanthe
Olympia
Savannah

toffeeboffin · 05/02/2016 12:41

Mallory.

Means bad luck apparently.

BlueChampagne · 05/02/2016 12:43

Like but wouldn't use owing to car connection: Mercedes, Octavia, Portia

Like but didn't get to use owing to having boys: Rhiannon, Meredith, Vashti, Morven

AlisonWunderland · 05/02/2016 12:44

Cassandra.

Didn't use because of negative classical connotations, and with my surname, sounds ridiculous

madamlala · 05/02/2016 12:47

Oh yes. Jezebel too. But that means 'an immoral woman!'

PunkAssMoFo · 05/02/2016 13:26

Lavender- but 'lav' is a no no.
Giselle- likewise 'gizz'
Blossom
Lorelei- it's just a bit much
Honey- bit lap dancer- esque

gladisgood · 05/02/2016 13:29

Paloma - means peace - (although the literal translation is "dove")

PooDogMillionaire · 05/02/2016 13:30

Ah yes, love Jezebel!

I know 7 children with names on this list already!
I think if you like a name you should use it, mn seems to be full of people sad that they didn't use their first choice name because it was too unusual!

cornwallsharon · 05/02/2016 14:02

I once met a French Canadian lady called Genevieve, but it was pronounced almost 'John-a-vee-ev'. Beautiful, but a bit pretentious on a poor middle class English kid I feel.

3luckystars · 05/02/2016 14:04

I am pregnant now and really really REALLY wanted to pick Indiana for a girl. Lots of reasons why that name would mean a lot to me. I thought it was perfect. I felt exactly as I did when I found my daughters name.

However DH has put the foot down, and will not allow it. He feels very strongly about it and has never done anything like this before so I have given up on it now.

I keep asking him "is it because you don't like it, or its just too weird" he says its a nice name but just too unusual. Which could change in a few years? Not a good enough reason to completely ban it though! I think if the name gets popular I will keep saying it, now you see?? It was a great name!!

He says we would be like the Kardashians.

Quickchangeup · 05/02/2016 14:08

I liked the name Adelaide.
Also liked Ayla.
Didn't use either, but only because I liked the name we settled on better. I'd possibly use them if I had another DD.

3luckystars · 05/02/2016 14:10

I definitely will not be having another. I am very lucky to be having this one!

Adelaide is lovely I think.

Thetruthfairy · 05/02/2016 14:11

Elowen
Primrose
Adelaide
Delia

Quickchangeup · 05/02/2016 14:11

3luckystars I love Indiana! Shame your DH can't see its appeal! I think Indi is also a really cute nickname!

SquadGoals · 05/02/2016 14:12

I came on to say Adelaide. I adore it but DH is Australian and thinks it would be weird.

I also love Nova and Vida.

Quickchangeup · 05/02/2016 14:13

Yes Adelaide is lovely! It didn't work very well with our surname if I'm honest, it makes it a bit of a mouthful! But I'd still be tempted to use it...

Thelastusername · 05/02/2016 14:19

Cornelia
Genevieve (English pronunciation)
Allegra
Alina

TheWildRumpyPumpus · 05/02/2016 14:21

Clementine

Just love it but DH would never have gone with it. Luckily we had 2 boys!

DonaldsDuck · 05/02/2016 14:28

I love Luna but everyone in RL associates it with Luna Lovegood and thinks it's silly. So I called DD something else Sad

BeautyIsTruth · 05/02/2016 14:44

Persephone, my favourite name ever but everyone thinks it's pretentious.

Idoitforthelove · 05/02/2016 14:46

So many!

Xanthe
Clementine
Maddelena
Anouska
Anouk
Seraphina
Evangeline

None of which I'd use in RL....I don't think!

Jw35 · 05/02/2016 14:51

Corn my names Genevieve and I'm English! Great name!

I like willow and olive but won't use. I'm considering Amelie for this baby is she's a girl.
