Aliza - it's a Hebrew name meaning 'joy' or 'joyful', but everyone would assume it's a butchered spelling of Eliza.

ExitPursuedByABear · 06/02/2016 16:29

Dd has cordelia as a middle name. She hates it. I live it.

And if I'd known she was going to be born in October I would have been tempted to call her Octavia

Also love Electra, Caliope, Calypso and Lorelei.

cheapredwine · 06/02/2016 18:09

Aurora - wouldn't work with our surname
Atalanta - adore this, would still work on DH if we have a girl
Perdita - too likely to have something turd related for a nn

CremeEggThief · 06/02/2016 18:12

Esmeralda
Seraphina
Anastasia

Oh this thread has made me all upset again about using the name "Indiana". I really felt it was the perfect name for this baby. DH just hates it and there's nothing I can do. I think unless I find something I love just as much, I will always think about that name and feel upset. He has said I can pick any other name on earth, just not that one.

FairNotFair · 07/02/2016 09:50

Nina. Gorgeous name but I couldn't have used it because (a) I had DSs, and (b) it would have hurt a close relative very badly.

stardusty5 · 07/02/2016 10:02

I love Persephone but i think it might be too pretentious and also she'd be having to spell it for people all her life.

Penelope is also lovely but then Kourtney Kardashian stole it

WaitroseCoffeeCostaCup · 07/02/2016 10:05

I've seen my Daughter's name on this list :-) and also my Godaughter's name! If you love a name use it! Daughter is 8 now. I have never regretted her name and we have never met another of any age.

CwtchyQ · 07/02/2016 10:09

Persephone - I don't think I know a name that is more beautiful to say aloud than this, though Seraphina comes really close.

CwtchyQ · 07/02/2016 10:12

3luckystars I sold DH on my name choice by listing all the nicknames that he could call her. Regardless, she would've been called whatever I wanted because she was my miracle baby and I allowed myself to be completely and utterly selfish Grin

3luckystars · 07/02/2016 10:30

Thank you, thats a great idea. Oh this baby is a real miracle too, I still can't believe that it's happening. I really hope he comes around, because the name really struck a chord with me. I have some time yet so I will try your idea. Thank you.

There are some beautiful names on this thread, I am really enjoying reading them all.

itsbetterthanabox · 07/02/2016 10:37

Pandora is a great name! Definitely useable.
I love but wouldn't use Persephone, Tapanga, Tobias, Diego.

RainbowDashed · 07/02/2016 10:49

Hero
Cleo
Juno

Romilly
Aurelie
Ottilie

CwtchyQ · 07/02/2016 10:56

3luckystars I really hope you get to use your name! Indy/Indi and Ana are such cool nicknames and totally inoffensive to those who don't like more unusual names.

hollyisalovelyname · 07/02/2016 11:11

Aurelie is such a pretty name.

Jemimapuddleduk · 07/02/2016 12:30

Stella (but then dh said it reminded him of beer)
Estelle
Delia
Cordelia

TwistInMySobriety · 07/02/2016 12:53

Aphra. Can't use it as I live in France and it sounds like affreux. Might sneak it in as a middle name though.

MaryPoppinsPenguins · 07/02/2016 13:11

My DD2 is a Seraphina, most people in RL hate it Hmm

If I had a third daughter I'd call her Aurora. DH heavily vetoes this, but I'd stick to my guns Grin

PooDogMillionaire · 07/02/2016 14:23

I love Aurelie, bug saying it out loud I'm wondering if it sounds too much like 'orally' ....

A number of the names on this thread are on our list for Dc6 due easter if it's a girl.

Indiana is one, juno or juniper, Astrid, anouk and some others.

PooDogMillionaire · 07/02/2016 19:07

Love Anoushka, would it be a bit strange to use it with no Russian connection though?!

OlafLovesAnna · 07/02/2016 19:12

We had Xanthe, Artemis, Olympia and Juno on our list. We went with the one that I thought would be the most mainstream ( not for that reason) but it seems to confuse a lot of people.

Either that or people say 'we liked that but thought it was too difficult to spell!'

MyBreadIsEggy · 07/02/2016 19:12

PooDog it's beautiful Smile I'm Polish, and have a cousin called Anouszka Smile

Narp · 07/02/2016 19:15

Juanita
Paloma
Bianca
Anita
