I see Adelaide has been mentioned a couple of times, but I much prefer the germanic version Adelheide, shorted to Heidi.

Loads of beautiful names here that I like and would consider using if I was ever to have another.

The name I love but couldn't use is Columbine as it just reminds me of the Columbine High School massacre.

Guinevere, Xanthe, Sheherezade. I am considering Persephone and Seraphina for this one though.

How do you pronounce Sheherezade? I keep saying Shezzarade, like lemonade when I read it here.

I'd pronounce Sheherezade like its written - She-her-a-zade. Is that not correct?

Whoops, spelled it wrong. Sheherezade. I'd pronounce it She-hair-ez-ah-da.

Funnily enough I was thinking of adding Sheherazade to this thread earlier on. Just gorgeous but a bit daft with DS's very Scottish name.

MrWriter - Melody is the only name that DP and I have actually agreed on (for our not yet conceived baby)! The only thing that bothers me slightly is the nn 'mellie' which I love and I know I would call her, but it definitely rhymes with smelly. And if anyone here watches Scandal, unfortunately 'Smelly Mellie' was a thing and now I can't stop thinking about it.

And then there's that Ariel from the Little Mermaid's daughter is called Melody and would people associate the two? I'm not sure how I feel about naming my DD after a disney princess...I think part of me loves it though...

But all that said, I still love the name a lot.

I've always loved Estelle, but Friends put me off for life. Now I just hear, 'Joey, it's Estelle.'
Also love Adelaine but it's the name of DH's dippy cousin, so didn't even bother suggesting it.

Heidi. I love it. DH less so. As it turns out we're having a boy so it will remain unused Sad I also like Imogen.

Also very pleased to see DDs name on this list. We thought we were having a boy so a girl was a bit of a surprise! I named her after one of my favourite British actresses. Smile
