I've always liked Araminta (Minty) for short. Have only known of one my whole life but DH would have had a shit fit.

Sometimesithinkimbonkers · 07/02/2016 19:31

We named DD Cleo and everyone was Hmm.... We love it and it really suits her. If she was DS we would have called her Corbin. My DF said thank fuck God she is a girl!

Swirlingasong · 07/02/2016 19:58

I love Cleo! Very nearly convinced dh that he did too...

OhPudding · 07/02/2016 20:02

Love Cleo. It was on our list, too, and very nearly became DD;s name, but DH had a wobble about it last minute.

thecatfromjapan · 07/02/2016 20:05

Dd's name is on this list. Felt very warm towards the poster who chose it.Smile

Borninthe60s · 07/02/2016 20:32

Aurora

GetSchwifty · 08/02/2016 09:27

Paloma
Romy
Manon

RainbowDashed · 08/02/2016 09:46

LOVE Romy and Aurora (Rory would be a v cool nickname)

Sometimesithinkimbonkers I'm so happy that someone out there has a Cleo, it's just gorgeous :)

DH would never countenance any of these names sadly. He's much more of a traditionalist in that respect. My baby making and naming days are long gone anyway, so I will have to live vicariously through those of you out there with better taste than dh Grin

5madthings posted: A number of the names on this thread are on our list for Dc6 due easter if it's a girl. Indiana is one, juno or juniper, Astrid, anouk and some others.

OMG, reading that nearly made me cry. I just can't believe someone could use my lovely name like that with no problem! I know I am pregnant but this is upsetting me out of all proportion. I feel so strongly about the name, and this thread has made me realise it. I wont give up!!!

MoggieMaeEverso · 08/02/2016 09:58

3luckystars I know a little Indiana. Her mum loved the name Indy but wanted her to have a long name also. She is the sweetest little girl and nobody blinks an eye at her name! In my mind it's one of those "unusual but not too out there names," as in, easy to pronounce, easy to spell, easy to remember.

Also, there are heaps of possible nicknames other than Indy:
Do
Dia
Ana
Diana
Did I

If you have a near-spiritual connection with a name it's important to use it. Both my children have unusual names that mean a lot to me.

MoggieMaeEverso · 08/02/2016 09:58

Whoops, did I was meant to be Didi.

3luckystars · 08/02/2016 10:10

Thanks, this thread is fantastic! I really appreciate the kindness.

Such lovely names here.

CwtchyQ · 08/02/2016 11:47

Mallory is gorgeous

Imelda is also divine

5madthings · 08/02/2016 12:05

3luckystars sorry I am slightly confused are you upset that my husband and I are also thinking if using the name Indiana? It's a name we both like and have had on our name lists previously we are just not sure if it's too unusual for us our other daughter us Merryn, so unusual but not too out there which is what we want in a name. If this baby is a boy it is likely to be Emmett as in Dr emmett brown from back to the future, we also thought about using indiana as a boys name as I think it could be uses for either.

All the names I listed are ones tgat are on our list already, before having read the thread.

I am sorry if I upset you, I hope you can persuade your dh. When is baby due? I am 32wks now, due at easter, we won't choose a specific name before baby arrives, we always have a shortlist and then see what suits once baby is here,,most of the madthings took a good week or two to settle on their name.

CrystalMcPistol · 08/02/2016 12:07

I think she envies you 5madthings that the name is a real option for you but just a dream for her!

3luckystars · 08/02/2016 12:30

Yes exactly! Sorry if I worded my post wrongly.

I just meant that its such a beautiful name, I hope you do use it because I am not allowed to!! You have lovely names on your list, I actually like all of them. Very best wishes with your baby, and sorry again for not wording my post properly.

forkhandles4candles · 08/02/2016 12:34

Morticia

5madthings · 08/02/2016 12:39

Well I hope her dh changes his mind. My dh has ruled out lots of names I like, such as margot or felicity. Ditto I have ruled out names he likes, Marnie and Eugene for example, it's hard agreeing on names!

Fwiw when I first suggested Merryn for madthing5 Mr madthing hated it, but it obviously grew on him and he now says he can't remember dismissing it when I first mentioned it!

5madthings · 08/02/2016 12:44

Cross posted, I was worried I had inadvertently upset you 3lucky sorry. I hope you get to use it, perhaps as a middle name would be a compromise if dh really won't let it be a first name? It has so many lovely shortening etc. Do you have long to go til baby is due?

stumblymonkey · 08/02/2016 13:00

I like Lavinia (family name) but nn 'Lav' is not good and DP has vetoed.

I also love Camilla nn Milly but not sure about the Camilla P-B connection...

stumblymonkey · 08/02/2016 13:01

Also YY to Estella since I read Great Expectations as a child but the character is actually pretty horrible...

BlueChampagne · 08/02/2016 13:05

Grin forkhandles

Justforthisfred · 08/02/2016 13:18

StillNoFuckingEyeDeer · 08/02/2016 13:22
