A brother for Artemisia

Originally it was going to be Lucian...yep we are those parents. But we got cold feet and decided it was too wanky even for us. (I love Lucian to any Lucian owners, but we thought in combination with Artemisia, it was a bit...hmm)

So then, after much discussion, the only name we could agree on, was Milo. But we have now come across, not one, not two, but THREE dogs called Milo. Apparently it is in the top ten dog names in the UK. This has... put us off. And we don't like Miles.

Names I like, which DH has roundly rejected:

Tobias
Marcus
Sebastian
Casper
Silas
Felix

Anyone got any good suggestions, before we name our son this generation's equivalent of Rex?

I am 39+6 and getting a bit worried that we seem to have NO candidates. DH has been totally unable to come up with any suggestions.

I know a lovely boy called Milo. Never met a dog called that. No one has ever mentioned it about my friend.

Not sure what else to say, as my taste in names is not to your taste...

Branleuse · 20/09/2015 19:05

i like all your choices except marcus

nilbyname · 20/09/2015 19:08

Finnian
Tristan
Lorcan
Asa
Quentin

From your list I only like Casper and Felix

Are you expecting twins, or are there two threads featuring Artemisia on MN at the mo?

I really like Lucian, and don't find it pretentious at all, you've already set your stall out with Artemisia, so go for it!

pinkyredrose · 20/09/2015 19:15

Tbh you've got an Artemisia, I really don't think it matters what your son is called. Hoe about Ptolomey or Peregrine?

Snossidge · 20/09/2015 19:18

I immediately thought Ptolemy.

ediepop · 20/09/2015 19:20

No, not twins, Artemisia is 2.9. At least, I really hope it's not twins, but as my bump is now so massive, it might well be. Where's the other Artemisia thread? I sometimes see it mentioned on 'names I wasn't brave enough for/DH vetoed' threads, but have yet to come across another one.

I like Tristan and Quentin, (after Quentin Blake perhaps?)

I do like Lucian, but I dunno, is it perhaps a bit to 'theme'? ie they would be both be named after famous painters? To be fair, DH and I both went to art school and work in creative industries, so it's not that random.

Solomon? Malachi? Leonardo?

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 20/09/2015 19:24

Lucas, your obvious solution. (Otto?)

Have you not commented on the Artemisia thread! You need to, forthwith.

ediepop · 20/09/2015 19:24

Ha! Ptolemy! My nephew had a veeerrry narrow escape from being called Ptolemy. My sister occasionally still says she wishes she'd been brave enough. I actually love the NN Tolly, which makes me think of the Green Knowe books, which I loved as a child.

Stick with Lucian. It's a fabulous name - and goes well with your DD.

MTPurse · 20/09/2015 19:26

Sorry but I have never heard of Artemisia, How is it pronounced?

anothernumberone · 20/09/2015 19:27

Why not Lucian. The 2 go quite well.

ediepop · 20/09/2015 19:27

I like Lucas, but I have a niece called Lucasta.

thoroughly outs self to anyone who knows any of my family

Somebody link me to the Artemisia thread!

Artemisia is a gorgeous name but you probably don't want another artist really. Do you? Because Reuben goes well with Artemisia.

Mine is the other Artemisia thread...watch out though, not many people like the name...I like Gabriel for a boy. What does your Artemisia get called for short?
