A brother for Artemisia

Originally it was going to be Lucian...yep we are those parents. But we got cold feet and decided it was too wanky even for us. (I love Lucian to any Lucian owners, but we thought in combination with Artemisia, it was a bit...hmm)

So then, after much discussion, the only name we could agree on, was Milo. But we have now come across, not one, not two, but THREE dogs called Milo. Apparently it is in the top ten dog names in the UK. This has... put us off. And we don't like Miles.

Names I like, which DH has roundly rejected:

Tobias
Marcus
Sebastian
Casper
Silas
Felix

Anyone got any good suggestions, before we name our son this generation's equivalent of Rex?

I am 39+6 and getting a bit worried that we seem to have NO candidates. DH has been totally unable to come up with any suggestions.

Telemachus?

myotherusernameisbetter · 20/09/2015 19:55

I was going to say Lysander too, how about:

Sylvester
Dorian
Elliot
Piers/Peter
Gabriel
Ezekiel
Keir
Montgomery
Halbert
James

Chillywhippet · 20/09/2015 20:11

I was going to suggest Felix or Silas!

What about
Cosimo
Xavier
Llewelyn

Or short
Kit

DD says how about Apollo? Artemis's brother?

Lucian is good though

Love Silas and Felix from your list. How about:

Hector
Linus
Leander
Nestor
Orion
Amadeus
Erasmus
Cyrus
Tycho
Darius

MumsKnitter · 22/09/2015 12:14

I think you should go with Milo regardless. You've just had an unlucky run to meet three canine ones, and will probably never meet another again!

Minimaus · 22/09/2015 16:31

I'm not keen on Milo, sorry. It does seem to suit a dog better imo.

I love Marcus, Quentin and Caspar! Not so keen on Lucian, it reminds me too much of Lucifer.

PallasCat · 22/09/2015 17:08

I really do like Lucian, and strongly prefer it to Milo. Also like Quentin which I see has been suggested.

Other suggestions in hopefully a similar vein...
Cosmo
Orlo
Mungo
Lucius
Aldous
Ambrose
Aloysius
Damien

ediepop · 22/09/2015 18:23

Loving lots of these suggestions! Especially like Cosmo, Quentin, Lucius (which autocorrects to mucus...hmm) Tycho, Linus

The problem is, I think DH is getting cold feet about his DS having an unusual name. After some prodding, he has come up with Alexander and Francis (after F Bacon). I like both...but not sure I love them. I am quite keen on Tycho though and it sounds a bit like Milo, so perhaps DH could be convinced.

MumsKnitter unfortunately one of the dogs is a recent acquisition by friends and another is regularly walked in our local park. I've only just realised he's called Milo though.

Ivo.

Room101isWhereIUsedToLive · 22/09/2015 18:29

Basil?

Niles?

Seriouslyffs · 22/09/2015 18:30

I though of Ptolemy too!
Arlo
Cosimo
Sasha?

Seriouslyffs · 22/09/2015 18:31

Alexander is a good idea- sensible but you could NN Sasha
Bruno?

GiddyGiddyGoat · 22/09/2015 23:32

Prosper
August
Augustus
Amos
Phineas
Tobias

Lucian is v nice and Francis is a fab name too...

Fozzleyplum · 22/09/2015 23:49

How about Fenton? Unusual (is from The Winter's Tale, iirc), but not quite as elaborate as some of the suggestions.

Solasum · 23/09/2015 00:02

Tycho makes me think of Little Tikes (big plastic toys)

I was also going to suggest Alexander nn to Sasha

DingbatsFur · 23/09/2015 00:02

Fred.

Gruach · 23/09/2015 00:28

Actually Frederic is not a bad idea.

Dunno if you shorten your Artemisia but Freddie and Missy has a nice, sort of Ambridge-y, stately home vibe ...

travertine · 23/09/2015 00:32

Caspian, I had a Caspian yesterday. Dad was wearing coloured trousers. Sweetie little boy.

ediepop · 23/09/2015 00:40

Oh, Dingbats, you're just not trying Grin

Solasum, wasn't the dog in that YouTube video called Fenton? 'Fenton! Feeentoooon'. Dogs. They have all the best names. Perhaps we should just go with Spot and be done with it. Wink

Sorry Fozzleyplum not Solasum

OP posts:
30somethingm · 23/09/2015 00:55

Horatio
Archibald
Vader
Gottfried

ediepop · 23/09/2015 01:10

God. DH is doing this really annoying word association with everything I suggest:

Linus. 'anus'
Tobias. 'Toby jug'
Caspian. 'sea'
Tycho. 'Tyke'
Cosmo 'politan'

Grr. He basically wants Alexander. But thinks we should wait until the baby is born and then decide. As I am now 40+2, this better be bloody soon!

OP posts:
travertine · 23/09/2015 01:13

He's doing good with Alexander. My ex if our DD2 was a boy wanted to call him King.
