Wanted: girls name. Must be fabulous.

Why am I pregnant again ffs? Stupid Catholic upbringing. My body will an unsalvageable wreck and we will be living in penury for the next two decades.

Anyway. Need a girls name. I am utterly devoid of inspiration, being interested only in grab bags of Skips and having naps.

Already have an Agnes and an Enid. Surname Stephens.

Dislike: frilliness; 'ah' endings; 'classic' names.

Like: fabulous names. I was keen on Ramona the last go-round, but think I might have lost my love for it.

Any suggestions?

Wanted to suggest Vita and Damaris but already done, boo hoo. Vita is a superb name.

ancientbuchanan · 26/05/2015 23:23

Getting my second wind.

On a book theme

Karen
Rowan
Lawrence \Lawrie
Lois

Tess (ok too many Ss)
Marty/Martine

Charlotte

Rumer
Loveday
Marjorie
Adrienne
Jacqueline
Morgan
Muriel
Marni
Lilian/Lilias
Fran

On a vowel theme,
Imogen
Then you would need Ophelia and Ursula to complete

Marcipex · 27/05/2015 00:53

Surely Tess is as NorthLondon as anything.

Frances?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 27/05/2015 07:17

On a vowel theme - Inez.

Zero, let's not forget that Enid created one of the Bills along with Darrell and co!

makeminea6x · 27/05/2015 07:20

Thora?

Sorry if already said, no time to RTFT

makesomenoise · 27/05/2015 09:00

I know a little girl named Dido - now that is surely fabulous!

ZeroFunDame · 27/05/2015 09:58

I hadn't Gasp0 but I also hadn't thought of EB's Bill for a hundred years. The description above made her sound very much like a younger Chalet School Bill.

Can't believe people are still throwing in names that were thrown out days ago. Grin

DoristheCamel · 27/05/2015 10:45

Agapanthus!!!!!!

ZeroFunDame · 27/05/2015 10:59

Doris ... The OP already has an Agnes, so it obviously wouldn't work.

InfiniteJest · 27/05/2015 11:34

There's a baby name website I like, where you type in a name and it gives suggestions along the same lines. So I tried Vera.

Most of them have been mentioned already, but it did throw out two unique options:

Mafalda
Luba

I don't know if these are too North London, I'm Australian, I don't even know what that means!

AnneOfCleavage · 27/05/2015 11:53

I love the name:

Vada (pronounced (Vay-da not Var-da)

Hattie is a gorgeous name too (in it's own right not just as nn for Harriet)

Wilhelmina
Maureen
Mauda
Morgan / Morgana
Hilary

ZeroFunDame · 27/05/2015 11:56

Luba ...

I presume that is the diminutive form?

SkodaLabia · 27/05/2015 11:56

Luba!!!!

If only it could be twins: Lesbia and Luba. Grin

KoalaDownUnder · 27/05/2015 12:16

Prue.

florascotia · 27/05/2015 12:33

You say that one of your DDs is 'Enid' - so, following the Enid Bagnold theme (rather than Blyton), what about Velvet?

Off the point, rather, but how do you pronounce your DD's name? Years ago, I encountered an Enid from Wales who was 'Enn-idd' not 'Eee-nid'.

InfiniteJest · 27/05/2015 14:19

Zero I had to go back and check, apparently it's a variant of Lyuba.

Skoda, that could be a good first name, middle name combo? Lesbia Luba Stephens? LL Stephens!

MovingOnUpMovingOnOut · 27/05/2015 14:24

So Vada as in Darth Anneofclevage? Wink

Sophronia · 27/05/2015 14:33

Minna
Cecily
Wilma
Lois
Bette
Shirley
Romina
Adele
Golda
Joy
Carmel
Lorna

MirandaGoshawk · 27/05/2015 14:36

Yes, Dido is fabulous. But I'm trying to work out whether it's North, East or West London. East?

This thread has been an eye-opener. Not only have I learned that people are calling their DDs names like Marion and Maxine, but I now realise that my own Dch's names are defo South London Shock

SwearyInn · 27/05/2015 14:42

Adair

florascotia · 27/05/2015 14:54

Adair is a boy's name, surely? Well, it is traditionally so in Scotland.
Means 'grove of oak trees' - a sacred place for druids and suchlike (if Roman writers are to be belived).
