Wanted: girls name. Must be fabulous.

Why am I pregnant again ffs? Stupid Catholic upbringing. My body will an unsalvageable wreck and we will be living in penury for the next two decades.

Anyway. Need a girls name. I am utterly devoid of inspiration, being interested only in grab bags of Skips and having naps.

Already have an Agnes and an Enid. Surname Stephens.

Dislike: frilliness; 'ah' endings; 'classic' names.

Like: fabulous names. I was keen on Ramona the last go-round, but think I might have lost my love for it.

Any suggestions?

Margaret - Greta

Gertrude - Trudie

Heidi

Eliza

Anwen

Spydra · 26/05/2015 11:05

Ooh- or Gretel?

MitziKinsky · 26/05/2015 11:09

Agnes and Enid are definitely East London names.

MaureenMacnally · 26/05/2015 11:10

Greta - Too North London

Gertrude is good, and I like Gert, but not Gertie or Trudie.

Heidi - Welsh holiday camp.

Eliza - couldn't be more North London if it tried

Anwen - sounds hobbitty

You're going to really struggle, aren't up?

OurGlass · 26/05/2015 11:10

aren't you?

MaureenMacnally · 26/05/2015 11:11

Gretel was on long list but think I've gone off it now.

Genevieve

Ivy

I know. I'm actually doing my own head in.

Geneveive - Too long, I think. Also too sweet. And I hate the name Jenny so cannot risk nn.

Ivy - too North London

It's doing my head in too. I will keep trawling..

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 26/05/2015 11:15

Is it definitely a girl?

Gilrack · 26/05/2015 11:18

OK, if you're ignoring Fabulous Wink how about Fabrice? It's a lovely name and can be shortened to Fab!

There's also Fabia - and all the more girly versions, like Fabbiana - and I met a little girl named Fable, which I thought ... well, fab.

SylvaniansAtEase · 26/05/2015 11:20

Hmm, I suggested this one ages ago but don't know if you missed it - Gerda - think others have mentioned that one too. No good nn though.

Lol at doing your own head in - like I said, I think you hit the jackpot with Vera. Also, really love Irene.

Enid would scare North London silly. Agnes, not so much.

ZeroFunDame · 26/05/2015 11:21

But I thought we settled on Vera ages ago?

Sad
TheVeryThing · 26/05/2015 11:22

Has anyone suggested Honor?

MaureenMacnally · 26/05/2015 11:23

Definitely a girl.

Maybe male foetuses prefer fresh, nutritious food and understand that they wouldn't thrive on my almost exclusive pregnancy diet of crisps, toast and flat 7up, so don't bother planting themselves in my inhospitable womb. The girl foetuses are made of sterner stuff and love heavily processed sugary carbs.

MaureenMacnally · 26/05/2015 11:26

Vera is v much still top of the list, I think Zero.

Gerda - Irn Bru.

Honor - too Puritan

OP posts:
ZeroFunDame · 26/05/2015 11:35

Excellent.

They would make an awesome triumvirate.

SoonToBeSix · 26/05/2015 11:35

Vera ? Not even Veronica

MaureenMacnally · 26/05/2015 11:40

Veronica's on the list. As is Valerie.

What about Susan or Barbara?

MaureenMacnally · 26/05/2015 11:46

Susan - good, but hate Susie, no definitely out on that count.

Barbara I like but Barbie is horrifying and cannot risk it.

Marcipex · 26/05/2015 11:52

Frieda?

Anstice?

FelixFelix · 26/05/2015 12:00

I love Gloria. DP vetoed it for us Hmm

I have a Sylvie and 100% wish I'd called her Sylvia. It's so much better.

Dolores? Not the best meaning but who looks in to that anyway? I think it's ace.
