Wanted: girls name. Must be fabulous.

Why am I pregnant again ffs? Stupid Catholic upbringing. My body will an unsalvageable wreck and we will be living in penury for the next two decades.

Anyway. Need a girls name. I am utterly devoid of inspiration, being interested only in grab bags of Skips and having naps.

Already have an Agnes and an Enid. Surname Stephens.

Dislike: frilliness; 'ah' endings; 'classic' names.

Like: fabulous names. I was keen on Ramona the last go-round, but think I might have lost my love for it.

Any suggestions?

Jane.

Helen- "shortened" to Nell.

I was also wondering what North London is if Agnes and Enid aren't!

But definitlely go for Nell. It's perfect.

Or close your eyes and stick a pin in a Chalet School book, and use whatever you stab. Unless it's Matey or Empidocles.

Maura?

Not to my taste at all...

reuset , you have been repeatedly rude to the OP, stamped your French with Irish heritage foot, that you are speaking out against outmoded, sexist comments with out explaining giving a reasoned argument or explanation.

Is French Catholic different from Roman Catholic? Has the pope advised married women it's OK to use contraception? I'm definitely missing something here.

Actually I don't care, reuset, and I don't think anyone else on this thread does either, were just laughing at you repeatedly trying to get the last word in. Grin

LondonRocks · 26/05/2015 08:24
Hmm
Allthatnonsense · 26/05/2015 08:24

Oh Lord, have some of you nothing better to do than bicker with strangers online?

getbusyliving · 26/05/2015 08:31

In fairness to Reusit I did wonder if OP was on a wind up, having names like Agnes and Enid but advising us nothing too N London

HereNotThere · 26/05/2015 08:58

oP, I bet you wish there was a 'hide poster' option. Wink I just don't understand posters like Reuset who seem so desperate to upset others. It's trolling at its most basic. This is a baby names thread ffs!

OP, you should definitely completely 100% ignore.

Anyway, back to names.

Ester is a good suggestion by a PP or is it too many 'E's

^^indeed

FannyFernackapan · 26/05/2015 09:03

So you mix things up on other threads to preserve your anonymity and then on this thread cheerfully tell us your surname and the names of your two daughters? Grin

I stand by what I said - some absolutely fugly names going on here

HereNotThere · 26/05/2015 09:14

I'd assume the surname is similar but not exact.

I did lol at the N London comment but it very much goes with all the OPs jokey reasons for not liking particular names.

happywiththis · 26/05/2015 09:59

Margot
Verity

MitzyLeFrouf · 26/05/2015 10:12

reuset you're like a cross between a dog with a bone and a crabby Jessica Fletcher.

It's baby names. Really not that important

CheerfulYank · 26/05/2015 10:27

Lol at "crabby Jessica Fletcher" :o

Ooh really, OP? The narrator? I never thought of that. You know what it reminds me of somehow? Merricat and Constance Blackwood, from We Have Always Lived in the Castle.

DramaAlpaca · 26/05/2015 10:32

This has to be one of the best Baby Names threads ever... and one of the longest.

I still think my suggestion of Olive is perfect Grin

MaureenMacnally · 26/05/2015 10:49

I am constantly recommending We Have Always Lived in the Castle to teens, CheerfulYank! It's v similar to Sister Maude, I agree. I'd never thought of that.

It's not an institution in the UK in the same way as it is in the States, so none of them have ever heard of it. Which is a damn shame, as a good murder spree is so much fun to read.

Margot - no, though it's great. Because of Despicable Me.

Verity - No. Too horsey.

OP posts:
MaureenMacnally · 26/05/2015 10:52

Olive - I should like it. I do like it. But do I love it? No.

BertrandRussell · 26/05/2015 10:54

Please don't miss Helen shortened to Nell. Nell Stevens. Lovely.

MaureenMacnally · 26/05/2015 10:55

Agnes and Enid are not North London names! I am horrified. They are partly gentrified East London names!

OP posts:
OurGlass · 26/05/2015 10:56

Dakota? Bronte? Sage? Pearl?

MaureenMacnally · 26/05/2015 10:57

Ah, yes, you see Nell would be a classic North London name. Helen I do like. Acceptable shortening to Hel and Hels. (Emphatically not Hellie).

OP posts:
MaureenMacnally · 26/05/2015 11:01

Dakota - no. No place names.

Bronte - no. Too soppy.

Sage - no. I hate sage, it ruins any meal it goes near.

Pearl - no. Too North London
