Or is it more of a boys name?

Pppppppp probably not a good idea.

Mrwillywonkasbitch · 11/09/2014 13:13

Penguin??? Lmao I've heard it all now

Gullygirl · 11/09/2014 13:13

I think TimTam has a nice ring to it.
Or maybe Hobnob.

feelingmellow · 11/09/2014 13:14

This is a joke, right?

Cereal0ffender · 11/09/2014 13:14

We did consider guillemot but worried she might be teased

There is also nice list to be had from bacteria (itself a delightful moniker) and Protozoa (again...).

runningonwillpower · 11/09/2014 13:16

Eh?

Penguins come in both boy or girl form. Cos they are penguins.

A random word or noun does not a name make.....

.........or it shouldn't.

Pengwin is a fine old Cornish name.

"By Tre Pol and Pen Shall ye know all Cornish men"

Pen means headland or hill

there is dispute about whether the second part of the name 'gwin' derives from the Cornish 'gwin' meaning wine, or, 'gwynn' meaning white

mineymo · 11/09/2014 13:16

Well, it's equally appropriate for the school room/board room/bedroom...

scaevola · 11/09/2014 13:16

Penelope Guinevere?

Cereal0ffender · 11/09/2014 13:17

Whitehead is a pretty name for a teenager

Totally chavvy. And unoriginal.

Why not go for something classier, like Koala or Mongoose?

Rubberstamp · 11/09/2014 13:20

It's a bit of a black and white name, you either love it or hate it.

Littledidsheknow · 11/09/2014 13:20

I'm in Wales, so it's spelt Pengwin here. Place is heaving with them.

Cereal0ffender · 11/09/2014 13:20

Baboom tish

I don't know how anyone can offer an opinion without knowing your surname OP Wink

Not sure of Penguin though for a girl, are you a fan of Gwynnie Paltrow?

AbbieHoffmansAfro · 11/09/2014 13:23

Bit old hat.
I like Toucan for a boy.
If you definitely want an Antarctic theme, what about Orca for a girl?

SavoyCabbage · 11/09/2014 13:24

Penguin is a boys name. Pen-Gwen is more popular for girls here.

I know siblings (a trio if you will) Penguin, Samantha and Walrus.

Cereal0ffender · 11/09/2014 13:24

I bet there are Orcas out there

Yeah. Imagine she would end up with initials like PJ. The poor girl. Or boy.

BetweenDogandWolf · 11/09/2014 13:25

You could perhaps go more specific with Gentoo or Adelie. Or Chinstrap or Humboldt if baby is a surprise boy.

GilbertBlytheWouldGetIt · 11/09/2014 13:26

I think you could go one step further and deconstruct it:

Beak/Beaker

Flipper / Flippa

Feather

Cloaca

Lweji · 11/09/2014 13:26

I love Orca.
But my favourite is Sardine. Shame I never had a DD.

AbbieHoffmansAfro · 11/09/2014 13:26

Oh yes, Sardine! A sister to Sprat and Pilchard.

ThereIsIron · 11/09/2014 13:26

What about Garibaldi?
