Or is it more of a boys name?

Its gender neutral IMO.

MargotLovedTom · 11/09/2014 13:04

Neither. It's the name of a creature or a biscuit.

Ilikepie · 11/09/2014 13:05

lol. Kitkat better for a girl. Penguin is a boy's name.

Cereal0ffender · 11/09/2014 13:05

Guinny as a diminutive

My dd is called penguin. I think it's a lovely name

JumpJockey · 11/09/2014 13:06

Well my DH did once have a patient called Puffin...

Cereal0ffender · 11/09/2014 13:06

My BFF called her child albatross I worry that she will think I copied her

It's not to my taste, but if you and your hubby like it, go for it hun!

Lweji · 11/09/2014 13:07

Boy's.

Now, Seal, for me would be more of a girl. Not sure what that singer was thinking.

How about Bee? Sounds good to me.

SirChenjin · 11/09/2014 13:07

I like it - but you could You-Neeqify it by spelling it PenGwin

PinkSquash · 11/09/2014 13:07

If I had a boy I'd call him Penguino, to be different.

Lweji · 11/09/2014 13:07

Albatross, Albie. Yeah, I can see it.

Cereal0ffender · 11/09/2014 13:08

Oh I like pengwin

Lol, this thread made me laugh out loud. Is penguin actually a name???

Daddypigsgusset · 11/09/2014 13:09

Can you hypenate and stick a mai/rose/leigh on the end
Penguin-Mai

Lweji · 11/09/2014 13:09

Are you laughing at these children? Shock

Cereal0ffender · 11/09/2014 13:10

Of course it's not a name. Why would I want to give my unique nature child an actual name?

GerundTheBehemoth · 11/09/2014 13:10

It's OK but there are lots of nicer avian-themed names. I like Tody-tyrant for a boy, Cisticola for a girl.

LatteLoverLovesLattes · 11/09/2014 13:10

I definitely prefer Pengwin

HTH

Lweji · 11/09/2014 13:11

Middle name Penguin.
First name The.

For siblings Bat Man and Cat Woman.
Poor Robin wouldn't get a middle name.

Mustangspirit · 11/09/2014 13:12

I think Penguin is a little overused. How about Dodo or Bluetit, Titty for a nn?

Alsoflamingo · 11/09/2014 13:12

This isn't for real, right? Please tell you aren't seriously considering naming some poor child Penguin…….

bauhausfan · 11/09/2014 13:12

Sounds a bit chavvy to me...

DialsMavis · 11/09/2014 13:13

Getting a bit too popular round here (west London, Middlesex borders) I don't want DD in a class of 4 or 5

TSSDNCOP · 11/09/2014 13:13

I think a geological names revival is long overdue and appropriate if you want to invoke natchur. Consider Canyon, Sediment, Soil, Coal. Good solid names that span Millenia.

Penguin not so much.
