Going on from the boy thread. I'm 14 weeks so don't know what I'm having yet but I have the feeling its a girl. Only problem is we have a boys list a mile long but only some ok girls names.

I love Teddy, Tyger, Wolf, Fox, Dexter etc for boys but can't seem to find any names like this for girls. Any ideas?

I have a 'kitty' whose real name is lydia. She's ten now though.
I also have a Rosamund and a Clara.

Great thread! A few of our potential names on here and Kitty is going on the list. Love something a bit quirky, apparently Isabel is obligatory for your new baby daughter where I work...

Some great names for pets here.

The main thing to remember when naming a child is that they have to live with it, not you.

I don't know, I think I would love to be called the majority of names on this thread.

My name is Rebecca. It was ranked number 5ish when I was born and there are hundreds of us. Pretty name but zzzzzz. One class I was in had to have Rebecca, Becca, Becky, Bex and Rebecca M

The trouble is that everyone assumes that their child will be beautiful, happy, clever, confident, outgoing and happy to stand out from the crowd. Not everyone is or does.

I've come across quite a few girls called Bonnie who didn't turn out to be very bonny

Kitty sounds like she will be a lap dancer.

I wonder why Kitty always gets such a bad press on these threads, and I don't like it either btw.
Kitty Fisher connotations or just soppy?

Nothing at all wrong with orphelia it's a nice name

I you sure Orphelia is a nice name? I thought Ophelia was bad enough what with the going mad and drowning...

Does not stop it being a nice name.

Just the same as shrek does not stop Fiona (if you like that name) being nice or Mrs west does not stop rose being a nice name

I just imagine being called Ophelia at school.
Let's have a Ophelia...ad nauseum.

I know a Fuchsia.

Of course Orphelia's exist (usually Ophelia) , doesn't mean I have to think it's a good idea to call your kid it.

Have you seen the urban dictionary's definition? Shock
