Going on from the boy thread. I'm 14 weeks so don't know what I'm having yet but I have the feeling its a girl. Only problem is we have a boys list a mile long but only some ok girls names.

I love Teddy, Tyger, Wolf, Fox, Dexter etc for boys but can't seem to find any names like this for girls. Any ideas?

There are some lovely names on here but some really, really terrible ones Shock

I don't won't to mention the ones that I think are a bit too out there in case I offend someone although, I am fairly confident no one has called their DD 'Plum' PLUM! Really!!! Confused Grin

legoplayingmumsunite · 28/02/2014 23:33

Apparently my name is 'classy faux original middle class cool'

One of my DDs has made it onto that list as well, I suspect from the reactions DS's name gets it would be on a similar list. My other DC's name tends to get 'eh?' from most people. Which is amusing since all three names are very common where I come from and not considered 'cool' or 'unusual' at all. Hey ho.

I think Aphra is having a bit of a moment so would say that is quite cool. Or maybe just a classy faux original middle class cool.

Some of these names are lovely but I'm sure some people just had their cat randomly walk over their keyboard!

ephemeralfairy · 01/03/2014 02:04

Oh my eyes Grin I didn't realise the Baby Names board could be so entertaining!

Fox, Wolf, Tyger - and that's just the opening post Grin It's the thread that keeps on giving ...

Can I suggest Borealis for boy or girl?

BeaHive · 01/03/2014 05:57

or even spirit of thread!

merrymouse · 01/03/2014 07:08

From the names suggested I would go for Emerald. (Although she would probably end up being called Em, which is more main stream which is good or bad depending on your point of view).

Katniss?

Meglet · 01/03/2014 08:01

crackfox another person who always has the same name as several friends / colleagues. We have a slightly bigger office, but there's four with 'my' name. There was four in my year at school too.

I'd much prefer a name that won't get me muddled up with other people. It's actually really bloody annoying having to check which 'meglet' someone is talking about.

BabyMummy29 · 01/03/2014 08:05

I always liked Imogen but could imagine the "What are you calling your child a stupid fancy name like that for" I would have got from the intelligentsia around here, so I resisted Sad

weeza13 · 01/03/2014 08:11

DH and I are teachers, so we wanted to pick names that were more unusual and less likely that we would end up teaching a child with that name. It makes it hard to pick a name when you want something that is rare.

We have two DS so none of my girl names have had a chance to be used but Neva is dying to get out, I just love it. Elise is a beautiful name and reasonably rare. I loved Angelique but DH said it was too pretentious. Imogen and Izzy were other favourites. I also like Thomasina.

These are just my opinions...

Ledkr · 01/03/2014 08:44

I was going to call dd ivy 3 yrs ago, I thought it was unusual but its featured a lot lately.
The Name I chose is lovely and not on this thread so I'm glad it's apparently still unusual.

NeedsAsockamnesty · 01/03/2014 09:08
