Going on from the boy thread. I'm 14 weeks so don't know what I'm having yet but I have the feeling its a girl. Only problem is we have a boys list a mile long but only some ok girls names.

I love Teddy, Tyger, Wolf, Fox, Dexter etc for boys but can't seem to find any names like this for girls. Any ideas?

My DD was very nearly Astrid or Artemis but ended up as Xanthe.

I liked the X and the fact it was reputed to be the name of one of the Amazon warriors made it seem a bit kick-ass.

indieakka · 28/02/2014 19:12

Neela and Daria are two that I love along these lines....

Headlikeafuckingorange · 28/02/2014 19:35

My dd is Astrid and several from our short list have been mentioned too. We must be very cool.

I love Xanthe.

Two of my dds names are here! They are v spirited girls, full of personality. Their names really suit them. I wasn't sure if I was brave enough to use one of the names but in the end we went for it and are glad we did.

Have to say aswell if we have a third dd her name is here too. I really love different names.

RunDougalRunQuiteFast · 28/02/2014 19:54

My DD's name as appeared 4 times here! We loved it for years before we had her.

RunDougalRunQuiteFast · 28/02/2014 19:54

overmydeadbody · 28/02/2014 20:01

overmydeadbody · 28/02/2014 20:06

Greta is also cool

And Peta. I think Peta is a very cool name indeed.

bopoityboo3 · 28/02/2014 20:06

Hero
Juniper
Beatrix
Regan
Tegan

MyLeftElbow · 28/02/2014 20:51

My DD is called Primrose Smile

ladyguinevere · 28/02/2014 20:55

My daughters name is Iseult...which I think is pretty cool. I also went to school with a Phaedra, she wasn't in the least bit tragic she was very cool and was known by everyone as Fred

ApocalypticBlackHorseman · 28/02/2014 21:02

Astrid is top of my list for a girl.

Meglet · 28/02/2014 21:03

Igraine. Mother of King Arthur.

Royal but totally bad-ass if shorted to Iggy.

NeedsAsockamnesty · 28/02/2014 21:31

CaipirinhasAllRound · 28/02/2014 21:49

I love Peta, and Primrose

woodrunner · 28/02/2014 21:59

I knew a Darcy and a Claude both of which seemed very cool to me. And someone on here the other day was asking about Avery which I think is lovely. Unisex names work really well on girls.

scottishmummy · 28/02/2014 22:12

If you think wolf,or tyger so cool.get dh to use them.he can say he call me tyger,t-y-g-e-r all my friends do
See how it goes flown before you inflict on wee baby
Adults picking coolest names is v indulgent and bit oh isn't we sooo cool

Kikibee · 28/02/2014 22:17

PMSL if ever there was a try hard thread then this is it. No doubt most of the kids will go the same way as zowie Bowie and end up changing their name to something 'more usual'

TheCrackFox · 28/02/2014 22:26

I work in an office of 5 and 4 of us share the same name. But, hey, we were all born in 1970's and there was seemingly only 5 girls names to choose from (3 of us even share the same middle name). Far better to stand out from the crowd.

NeedsAsockamnesty · 28/02/2014 22:29

A lot of these names are not even that unusual

cerealqueen · 28/02/2014 22:55

I wanted to call DD1 Orchil (gaelic) but DP was put off as we'd have to spell it all the time.

However, the name we did choose has appeared here Grin.
