Help me find a boys name...

I am going to be really fussy, dismissive for ridiculous reasons and probably sound like an arse on this thread. But I am really stuck. We've had a girls name set for a few months and I am still happy with it. But the boys name.. we keep going off them.

I need help.

I don't want anything common, in both senses of the word.

Our list thus far has been:

And I liked them all at first, and now I hate them. I think they sound chavvy. I have a DS with a top 10 name and thankfully he goes by a lesser used NN anyway, but still, I don't want to repeat that. He's one of 4 in his year.

HELP!

I don't like plain, classic names like your list.

I want something that isn't common. I want something unusual but not invented.

Well, most of these I find awful (sorry - just not to my taste) and some are hilarious (Zebedee? Django? ) and some are nice but I can't use for various reasons (relatives of same name, etc)

I like Cailin. Might get shortened to Cale.

I like those names. One of which is my ds and another of which is probably going to be new ds when he's born!

I love Jesse but we live in Scotland.. Probably not a good idea!

Should say - I do actually like some but they are taken by family members or close friends.

Which ones do you think are nice but you can't use? It will give us a better idea of what we're looking for.

So far I notice that everything you like or have liked is two syllables with the stress on the first syllable. That only narrows down the list of potential names slightly, but it's a start, perhaps?

Just as well you came back there OP as I was thinking that having a "common" name might be the least of his problems :o

Actually when i re-read your original list, I think Brodie stands out as not schemey to me when it is removed from the rest of the list, especially when not next to Deacon - It makes me think not of the person Deacon Brodie, but the pub of that name :)

I love Brochan - it's scottish.

I still like Brodie but maybe for a girl.

Don't like Scottish names. They are ten a penny round here.
