A sister for Jupiter?

We have decided to wait until the twins are born to decide their names as it seems we can't settle on two this time round. We're having b/g twins and have a list of possible names that flow and match each other as well as the other DC.

We both fell in love with Jupiter so it's on the list but cannot find a girl's name that matches (topic wise) or flows. We did love Astra Faye but sounds too close to Ash Tray!

We don't like Juniper, Juno as they're too close in name.

Any ideas?

Please please please don't call your poor child Jupiter, it's just ridiculously poncey Confused

Beehatch Is Vega a girl's name? Always sounded like a boy's name to me.

I'd love it to be pronounced So-FY but I have no doubt people will see it and pronounce it; So-FEE.

We decided on Jupiter & Lyra as a set to add to the other set of names we have. Now it's a wait and see what they look like game.

Thanks everyone! :)

BlueBowTie · 22/09/2013 23:55

MultipleMama · 23/09/2013 00:38

Won't be back on this thread until babies are born to announce names for those who wanted to know.

Thanks for all the suggestions. It was fun. Never expected 11 pages, though some were off-topic Wink.

Jupiter and Echo sounds lovely IMO Smile

Gingerandcocoa · 23/09/2013 07:55

Serena

Lovely name short list (I have a Thea so am slightly biased though). Just wanted to say that I am a teacher and I would never judge a child by their name. I have taught all manner of names throughout the years and personally I love the more out there ones, as do my colleagues.

How about Lux? Means light....thought it was similar to Nyx and is kind of solar related. It was on our shortlist for our twins for a while.

bridgetsmum · 23/09/2013 08:53

I've just asked my 9yo old son if he would have liked it of we called him Jupiter. It was a resounding "NO!!!! That's a rubbish name!"

lljkk · 23/09/2013 09:27

Echo is straight out of a unix manual.

Pachacuti · 23/09/2013 09:31

It's another possible sibset, though -- Echo and Grep...

Xigris · 23/09/2013 09:49

I've just asked my son what he thinks of the name Jupiter. He thinks it's cool Grin

EldritchCleavage · 23/09/2013 11:01

Lyra Sophia (old pronunciation) is really lovely.
So glad you liked Isis, that's the first time one of my suggestions on a baby name thread has been short-listed, yay!

Wishing you an easy remainder of pregnancy and birth, looking forward to the name update.

lljkk · 23/09/2013 11:42

Can you just imagine the following Bell Labs playground conversation:

"Oi! Emacs, I told you stop kicking Awk!" Aside to friend: "Boys, eh? But your little Echo & Chmod are such good little girls, I'm so jealous."

IceBeing · 23/09/2013 11:54

Aquila? (the eagle constellation)

VenusDeWillendorf · 23/09/2013 12:04

I presume Jupiter is going to be the big one with the spot?

Please reconsider.

AlansCatalanCat · 23/09/2013 12:32

I presume Jupiter is going to be the big one with the spot?

I bet his little brother Saturn will run rings round him.

(I'll get my coat)

When I was at school there was a boy and for years I thought his name was Jupiter, no idea why and he never corrected me. I was seven.

I found out years later that his name was in fact...... Raymond!

valiumredhead · 23/09/2013 23:01

Jupiter is better than Gaia, seriously have any posters who suggested that actually been to secondary school?Hmm

AlansCatalanCat · 24/09/2013 09:27

I like Raymond, I think that should make a comeback. Lovely Old French nobility kind of name. [/offtopic]
