A sister for Jupiter?

We have decided to wait until the twins are born to decide their names as it seems we can't settle on two this time round. We're having b/g twins and have a list of possible names that flow and match each other as well as the other DC.

We both fell in love with Jupiter so it's on the list but cannot find a girl's name that matches (topic wise) or flows. We did love Astra Faye but sounds too close to Ash Tray!

We don't like Juniper, Juno as they're too close in name.

Any ideas?

Ganymede and Europa are the other Galliean moons (to add to Olivia's two).

I'd love to use astronomical names - dh has generally vetoed, sadly Sad

Love Andromeda!

RhondaJean · 20/09/2013 19:10

Jupiter and andromeda are fantastic.

Though they may grow up and decide to be terry and andy!

jobwoes · 20/09/2013 19:10

Miranda (moon of Uranus, if I remember right)?

LeGavrOrf · 20/09/2013 19:11

I really like the idea of calling a boy Jupiter. What a fantastic name.

I don't know. Perhaps something related to stars and planets might be too much, but I love the name Cassopeia.

You certainly can't call the girl something run of the mill like Charlotte or Sophie can you? Grin

I adore grandiose names.

Some ideas

Bathsheba
Ariadne
Persephone
Aphra
Ankaret (old English version of Angharad, I haven't made it up)
Oenone (please use that, it is one of my favourite names!)
Veronica
And for a roman theme some lovely goddess names off the top of my head are Hecate, Minerva, Diana (urgh though), Clementia and Laetitia.
Constancia is also lovely.
Berengaria

Can't think of any names to go with Jupiter, but love the name. Almost makes me wish I was having another DS so I could call him Jupiter.

What reactions did you get to his name OP?

LeGavrOrf · 20/09/2013 19:12

Oh bollocks I took so long excitedly thinking up my favourite names I see that most of them have been mentioned!

Bugger! Sorry, as I was saying..... I once read a book by someone with the first name Galaxy. I thought that was fabulous.

Also like Dido and Iphigenia.
Love Jupiter Smile

DramaQueenofHighCs · 20/09/2013 19:26

Love the name Jupiter and other names suggested but no matter about the fact that it is a lovely name and was the name of a god before it was a planet he will (IME) get bullied at school. IME every kid at the schools I have worked at (senior) has either been bullied at senior school or has been a bully due to being so hardened by past bullying. Sad but mostly true. Sad

Not saying don't chose it as a name or don't pick another more unusual name (as I honestly do love them) but just think carefully before doing so. (I have a DS but if he had been a girl I had to veto my favourite girls name 'Patience' for that reason. )

LeGavrOrf · 20/09/2013 19:26

Eleuthera

Means freedom in Greek and is also an island in the Bahamas.

Esperanza. Spanish for Hope.

Artemisia. I love that name, she was an Italian painter in the 1600s

Christ I know some random crap.

Really? So by that logic it's inevitable whatever you call him.
