I met a lovely little boy and his mum in the US, he was about 5 and was called Caspian.

Maybe a Narnia fan?

funnily enough i met a little boy called Aslan! Another Narnia fan?

BinarySolo · 28/01/2013 11:57

He was about 5 too.

botandhothered · 28/01/2013 12:57

Went to school with a boy named Hamlyn in the eighties. Never met another.

SilentMammoth · 28/01/2013 13:34

Aslan, I think might be Turkish, I remember one of my fathers colleagues being called that.

If course might have been a narnia fan too!

LtEveDallas · 28/01/2013 13:44

I know two people that have completely made up names - one named from a mixture of her her hair and eye colour (she'd be in her 40s now), one named from a mix of the two names his parents couldn't decide on (he's 10).

I find both names slightly ridiculous tbh.

My neice has a 'real' name, but is the only person with that name in the UK (well the last time I looked she was)

NeitherShreddedNorSmug · 28/01/2013 13:46

I know two children with made up names, both are a combination of their parents' names. Different families, and about 10 years apart.

DontmindifIdo · 28/01/2013 13:49

In DH's family there's a great aunt called Genesta. I haven't met/heard anyone else with that name.

badtime · 28/01/2013 14:13

'Genesta' sounds like a variant of 'Genista' which is a genus of the plant broom (I know this because of the Plantagenets, who were named after it too!)

BinarySolo · 28/01/2013 14:14

The family with Aslan were from Yorkshire and didn't look at all Turkish. More Scandinavian. Guess there could have been an ancestor though.

I went to school with a Mary-lane (yes, lane not a typo!). Not sure where that came from.

emsyj · 28/01/2013 14:30

I went to primary school with someone called D'Artagnan (sp????)

My DMum used to be a teacher and had a little girl in her class called Ladybird. I quite like it actually! The more I say it the more I think it's rather lovely.

BabyRoger · 28/01/2013 14:32

I went to primary school with a boy called Haig (pronounced as in 'The Hague'. I have never heard of or met another since.

ccsays · 28/01/2013 14:32

I know a five year old Shadow. Pretty atrocious name IMO, but definitely unique!

Indith · 28/01/2013 14:38

I have only ever met one Nest.
I knew a Tulip once, never met another of those either.

Also Oceanne and Angel. I have seen these/similar thrown around on baby name threads but I've never met one since the originals I have met.

PootlePosyPerkin · 28/01/2013 14:42

I used to work with someone called Lovely. Never met another.

CoffeeMum · 28/01/2013 14:42

I've only ever met one Saxon - a toddler boy

ethelb · 28/01/2013 14:44

Vern - boy (said it was a family name)

Sultana - turkish girl

Moominsarehippos · 28/01/2013 14:47

Ladybird Johnson. But I don't think that was her real name.

HoneyandRum · 28/01/2013 15:15

Oh just remembered that I worked with a Cameo she was a lovely person
