I met a lovely little boy and his mum in the US, he was about 5 and was called Caspian.

Maybe a Narnia fan?

I don't think I've ever met someone with a unique name.

Someone named their child God? Shock I'm surprised they were allowed to register that.

i met an Equator Goldstien once. I thought it was such a beautiful name and it suited her perfectly. Not sure if it were her given name or a name she called herself but it was beautiful.

I knew a girl called Saxon. I assumed her parents were fans of the band!

Was god maybe short for Godfrey or Godrick? I wouldn't have thought you could register that!

I knew of a ghengis khan. Also heard about a New Zealand couple that wanted to name their baby 4real. They were refused by the registrar.

Aslan means Lion, unsurprisingly. :)

It could have been Moomin!!! Maybe it's the same person my DMum taught? I'm guessing she would be late 30s to late 40s by now...

Oh how thick am I, just googled and see who 'Ladybird Johnson' is Blush Blush Blush. It says her real name was Claudia. Maybe that's where the parents of the little girl my DMum taught got the idea?

Aslan is a perfectly normal Turkish name for boys. It is the word for "lion" in the Turkish language.

Re Narnia - It is the literary equivalent of calling a fictional dog "Dog".

Rutger, Saguaro, Clayton, Shanti, Dayjanayda (I don't know proper spelling, might be Deyaneda)

(my dad's name, but I cannot say it because he has a public profile).

An Anakin lives locally.

My friend had an Aunt Griselda. Not unique, but I bet you don't get many Griselda's nowadays.

I know a Storm (a boy) but thats about it. There is a Pheonix at nursery (thats the spelling they use) Theres also a baby Juniper which is lovely (shortened to Juno which is slightly more popular)

Had the Aslan I met looked Turkish then I probably wouldn't have batted an eyelid, but it was surprising on a little blond boy! And although I knew it was a name in it's own right I still thought Narnia. maybe because his siblings were Lucy, Susan and Tumniss

"I knew of a ghengis khan"

Cengiz ("Ghengis") is also a perfectly normal Turkish name meaning "warrior". So is Atilla.

Yes cote but given the notoriety of the namesake you'd have thought the parents would think twice with their surname.

I've known a few Lovleys. They've all been Bengali girls.

DH used to work at Great Ormond Street hospital. He reckoned you could tell who had been a popular sleb 3-5 years ago by the names of some of the children. There was the wave of Kylies, followed by the Beyonces etc.
