I met a lovely little boy and his mum in the US, he was about 5 and was called Caspian.

I've not met this person but read an article in the paper about an actress called Tuppence which i'd never heard before and i very much doubt i'll hear again. When i was a child my grandma would use this term to describe female parts so i can't imagine why anyone would want to call their child this.

In Scotland the GRO publishes a full list every year of all the names given to newborns. When 2011's list came out last year my ante-natal group were having a nose to see how popular our children's names were and found some crazy names on the list. For boys, this included:

Jesuslovesme
Boo-Tiger
Bruce-Lee
Johnlewis

Jesuslovesme really makes me think we need some laws about acceptable names...

I used to know a Haig. He'd be approaching 40 now and was a sex pest twat. His brother was called Lee bizarrely.

I like the names Hereward and Havelock!

I actually know a Temujin- not a turk either, of White/Irish extraction, though named in honour of Gengis Khan.

I also know a Starskey (girl) and an Ocean-Rivers.

I was at school with girls named Beauty, Lucky, Happy and Joy (none were related to one another).

A friend of ours wanted to call his daughter Tempest. Luckily his wife wouldn't let him.

My boss is meeting a woman called Lovelace tomorrow (not meeting in an inappropriate way - an actual meeting). He is really really hoping he doesn't accidentially call her Linda (as he has already referred to her as this by mistake twice already) :)

slopes off having probably just outer herself
