Spike is a cool name. However the appellation was chosen.

AvonCallingBarksdale · 30/08/2012 18:21

I think Spike's a great name. It was on our list for DC2, but we had a DD. It's not that out there, is it Confused

fluffiphlox · 30/08/2012 18:24

Spike is the bulldog in Tom and Jerry, surely?

Frontpaw · 30/08/2012 18:27

We had a whole Spike Yay or Nay thread earlier this year. It got quite shouty and I got scared.

Kayano · 30/08/2012 18:29

Buffy the vampire slayer is the only place for a 'spike' IMO

anniewoo · 30/08/2012 18:30

Gobnait. Named after an irish saint. Pronounced Gob net Grin

Arion · 30/08/2012 18:34

Nefertiri-Jill (into ancient Egypt and Mum's name, and had to be fully named, no shortening)
Armani Jean
Cartier (boy)
and some horrendous spellings including Charleigh (Charlie)

mathanxiety · 30/08/2012 18:37
(aka Frank Kelly) 'The Twelve Days of Christmas'
McKayz · 30/08/2012 18:44

None of my DCs can be judges, lawyers or doctors according to MN and I think they're fairly normal names.

Which is good as DS1 wants to be a pilot, DS2 wants to be a Hairy Biker and DD is 10 weeks old.

So slightly out there names never seem to go down well.

Boggler · 30/08/2012 18:44

My sil (teacher) has come accross a Blade (boy) and Tia-Maria (girl).

HmmThinkingAboutIt · 30/08/2012 18:45

Workmate's wife is teacher and she's taught a little girl called Chlamydia.

Jakadaal · 30/08/2012 18:45

a little girl called Chlamydia
now it's getting silly

IawnCont · 30/08/2012 19:16

Wayne Bow! That is bloody brilliant!

I think it's very very odd that anyone would think of Ivy or Melina as out-there names.
I'm also bloody fed-up at names that are named as weird just for not being English. There's a world out there, people...

TunaPastaBake · 30/08/2012 19:19

There was a thread a while ago about someone calling their baby ' Cartier'

iheartmycat · 30/08/2012 19:40

I just cant imagine looking at my lovely new baby and thinking, "I'm going to name you....

Daphne
Maud
Cornelia
Winston
Ptolemy

It's not just 'new' names that can be awful!!

popsypie · 30/08/2012 19:50
