Just that really. I'm pregnant with dc2 and I love lots of names but wouldn't have the guts to use some of them - silly I know!!!

One of my faves for a girl is Luna/Lunar.

Just for fun- what are yours?

I have a Delilah,it seems normal to us all now but there were a few family cats bum faces when we announced it.

Oh, and I loved the name Silas, but my initial is S and that ruled that one out; Atticus, but ex-DH refused, and Matthias, which caused so much jaw-dropping at the NCT that I lost the courage of my convictions.

I love Aubrianna

5dcsinneedofacleaner · 28/08/2012 18:25

my daughters have names like Emily though!

peacefuleasyfeeling · 28/08/2012 18:36

And Rafael and Aubrey. And Joachim.

HazzleMcDazzle · 28/08/2012 18:40

I love Artemis for a girl and Florian for a boy. Although we do have a one DD and one DS, don't think DH would have countenanced either name, sadly. Plus our surname is a bit too 'ordinary' to carry them off properly.

Whatiswitnit · 28/08/2012 19:43

Columbine. I love it but people will think 'high school massacre' not little pretty flower.

Inyourhippyhat · 28/08/2012 20:36

Valerian

JoInScotland · 28/08/2012 20:56

Constantine
Arkady

They only really work in a Russian-speaking community, and I'm not in one at the moment.

JoInScotland · 28/08/2012 21:13

I went to a high school in a real die-hard hippy town and went to school with a lot of the names on here: Anastasia, River, Phoenix, Willow, Sorrel, you name it. I also remember a set of identical twin girls named Morning Star Ramsay and Evening Star Ramsay. As others have stated, children grow into their names and after a while, you won't bat an eye at how "unusual" they once seemed to you. If you love a name, go for it! I named my child something not even in the top 100 and we love it still - it suits him and I can't think of him with any other name.

Onadietcolabreak · 28/08/2012 21:51

Emmyloo2 - I was this close to naming ds Humphrey, every one said I was mad, but ds is now 5 and is a Humph in spirit! Again dd1, buckled under everyone's pressure, but she is that name, and I changed it by deed poll when she was 3! And she loves it.

Go for the names you love ladies, maybe it's female intuition Wink

Eliza22 · 28/08/2012 22:09

Milo. I loved it when I was pregnant but my sister said I couldn't name the baby after a "tweenie".

Still love it.

NarkedRaspberry · 28/08/2012 22:12

Lettice. It's really pretty but it's like stapling 'kick me' sign to their back.

NarkedRaspberry · 28/08/2012 22:18

And Ambrose for a boy. Damn the rice pudding.

beeroclock · 28/08/2012 22:33

bloody love roxanne but sting has buggered it up. Also love myra. lucky i have boys then.

perfectstorm · 28/08/2012 22:33

Artemis is lovely.

expectingnumber3 · 28/08/2012 22:35

My nephew is called Solomon and I love it! Lots of raised eyebrows at toddler groups though! Just go for it with unusual names, its nice to be different. Dd2 has a hyphenated name the second part of which is Kitten. Dh and I love it but my MIL never uses her full name!

Schoolworries · 28/08/2012 22:49

DH vetoed all of the above. Can't think why.

Schoolworries · 28/08/2012 23:10

Coco

I was determined to use that for a while when pregnant!

AnotherLoad · 28/08/2012 23:13

I wanted to used the Keaton for both my DS's but got put of by peoples reactions. both have common names now :(

really really would love a River! was dead jealous when my best mates sister named her son this Envy

also liked Knight and Dante - but just wouldnt tho!

girls. always liked Phoenix, Tey, Cadence, Rainey.....but as thread title says - not brave enough to use.

attheendoftheday · 28/08/2012 23:18

I love names of an extremely hippy type, would love a Star or Rainbow or Leaf. I will try and keep things a bit more normal though.

Rosarium · 28/08/2012 23:21

For a girl, Fuschia -- just because it's so beautiful-sounding, though it is a bit frou frou so probably not. For a boy, would have loved, loved, loved to use Oliver Bede, but Oliver sadly too popular a name for us :(
