Just that really. I'm pregnant with dc2 and I love lots of names but wouldn't have the guts to use some of them - silly I know!!!

One of my faves for a girl is Luna/Lunar.

Just for fun- what are yours?

Isaac - lovely, but less keen on Zac as NN.

Cathycat · 18/08/2012 21:49

Isaac! Isaac is very normal... use it! My name that i love but would never use is Thierry. Unless I copped of with a French man.

I love Ebonezer

Chad and Chase!

Pudgy2011 · 19/08/2012 03:29

Dylan. For a girl. Love it.

tuckingfits · 19/08/2012 03:34

Constance & Solomon. Constance made the shortlist after much persuasion to dp, but I don't think he would.have gone for it if we had had a girl (it'll be back on the list next time!)

I love Solomon but not sure it's not too unusual if you know what I mean.

babybythesea · 19/08/2012 10:49

I know a Loveday, a Delilah and a Ptolemy.
So people are brave enough... go on, you know you want to!

On a different note, I love Jack but can't use it as had a stillborn nephew called Jack (Dh's sister's son). DH thought she might see it as honouring her baby. I think that we wouldn't call a baby anything that was the same as a living cousin (which is a shame as it's taken quite a few lovely names off our list) so to call a bot Jack would be underlining that her Jack is no longer here. It's not the same as calling a baby after a grandad or similar.

MrsSchadenfreude · 19/08/2012 12:04

Yael, Svetlana, Ekaterina, Tamar, Avital...

All vetoed by DH, who came up with

Frederika, Drusilla and Priscilla.

I do love the name we eventually chose for DD2 though. Even if it did take 6 weeks to agree on it.

Tiger Lilly, it is sooo beautiful, but everyone pulls a face when i suggest it

blackcatsdancing · 19/08/2012 12:14

I know a teenager called Luna, she was teased so badly for at least 4 years at school, look at how you say it backwards. Kids can be very cruel, any excuse for some.

Wildwaterfalls · 19/08/2012 12:26

Sherlock!

katiegolightly · 19/08/2012 12:28

Fox!

katiegolightly · 19/08/2012 12:30

oh and Rafferty

LondonInBoots · 19/08/2012 14:19

I love unusual names but I am aware of making thm feel out of placeor being judges too harshly when ranching Not to say my DCs will ever have 'normal' names! Lots of these are going on the lists though - many will just be vetoed by boring DP!

Persephone, Hera, Athena/e, Demeter, Saffron, Araminta, Ariadne, Juno, Juniper, Prudence, Drucilla, Truth, Apolonia, Stefania, Magdalene, Salome, Zara, London, Isis, Rowan, Xaviea, Xanthe, Xena, Isolde, India.

Lysander, Hunter, Ptolemy, Osiris, Tristan, Malachi, Merlin, Fox, Xavier, Atticus, Titus.

When I was about 6 I wanted to have twin DDs and call them Peaches and Cream and a DS called Stone Hmm This represents progress I think. I was a loss to the celeb naming crowd.

LondonInBoots · 19/08/2012 14:21

This is what happens when you post not preview - judges too harshly when ranching is supposed to read judged too harshly when announcing. What is ranching?!?

Ulliunghi · 19/08/2012 14:46

Manon and Io. Both vetoed by DP,
probably just as well.

spiffysquiffyspiggy · 19/08/2012 14:55

I have a Ptolemy. It was DH's choice and I got talked into it but I love it now and it really suits him.

If we have another DH wants to use Fox or Horatio. He suggested Fox for DS2 but DS1 gave him this look Hmm and said very firmly "he can't be a fox, he hasn't got a shiny black nose"

eatyourveg · 19/08/2012 15:07

Rufus Noah Jethro and Nell - all vetoed by dh

The teddies were Horatio and Wilberforce - love the names but thought it a bit cruel for any dc

Annunziata · 19/08/2012 15:11

Michael (sounds like a hamster with our surname) and Salvatore. No girls' names for some reason.

Annunziata · 19/08/2012 15:11

Hamster? Gangster!

isambardo · 19/08/2012 15:44

Jezebel! Both Husband and I love it, but it would be a burden of a name. His first choice is Persephone as he loves Greek and Roman literature but again I feel I'd be saddling her with a tough name.
