Just that really. I'm pregnant with dc2 and I love lots of names but wouldn't have the guts to use some of them - silly I know!!!

One of my faves for a girl is Luna/Lunar.

Just for fun- what are yours?

Cesare-love it but not of our time
Oisín -my gran told not to use it
wow turns out I have no girls names that i love but can't use.

Netheregions · 28/08/2012 09:07

Flash - my brother had a friend at school called Flash - f*ing fantastic name!!!

LadyHarrietdeSpook · 28/08/2012 10:34

I wanted to name DD2 Zelma Ines after DH's grandmother. But I was vetoed by him and the woman's son (his father.) Sad

MyBaby1day · 28/08/2012 10:47

Aneasthesia!. I wouldn't use it for obvious reasons but I LOVE it!!.

MammyToMany · 28/08/2012 10:51

I love the name Myra, if this baby is a girl I would love to name her Myra but can't due to the Hindley connection. And if anyone didn't immediately think of Hindley then our surname would make it obvious. I would consider Myra at a push if it wasn't for our surname.

juneau · 28/08/2012 10:54

Avery, Nico, Benedict, Nadege, Gabriel - I like exotic names, but both my DSs have really traditional names. cluck cluck. I'm a chicken.

Galaxymum · 28/08/2012 10:54

My mum gave me a name that is very unusual and I always accepted it so I was all for an unusual name for DD. Luckily DH and I both came up with the same name mid pregnancy and it stuck. I know it is unusual but it's a happy name - has a lovely meaning and she suits it.

Names DH rejected:
Liberty (doesn't go at all with our surname and I love it)
Tobias
Leonara
River
Araminta
Ariana (from The Borrowers) I LOVED that
Dicken

Names I NOW like (Game of thrones inspired!)
Aria
Sansa
Tyrion

How sad no-one can go with Myra due to the awful association Sad. What about Mara?. Also have a teddy called Arkie!!...my Arkie!. Always loved it then just after my 12th Birthday I got him and it was the obvious answer! when thinking of a name!. Loved it ever since!. If I adopt a boy I like Brandon but it's pretty acceptable anyway.

rainonmyparade · 28/08/2012 11:02

I know a Myra - lovely girl- who was born late sixties. It must have been a controversial choice at the time. You don't hear of many Myra's under 40ish - that's obviously why.

bean612 · 28/08/2012 11:04

Ophelia. Love it, but think it's a bit terribly terribly.
Lori. Also love it, but so many lorry jokes it would be a bit cruel.
Lisa - nothing wrong with it all, but I only like it pronounced the French way - 'Leeza'. Pretentious, moi? Grin

Sleepysand · 28/08/2012 11:16

Oenone. I had a friend called that, and had I had a girl I might have tried to persuade my (now) ex-DH...

MyLittleMiracles · 28/08/2012 11:24

Gracie Mae, too afraid cos I suffered 2 mmc's and I believe my eldest was a girl and Thats the name I picture her having.

Eloise cos its to similar to mine, and we would both be shortened to el

GlitterPinkRubberDucky · 28/08/2012 12:19

I really like River for a boy and James for a girl.

ZuleikaD · 28/08/2012 12:31

I like Sebastian but I hate 'Seb' so would never use it.

casper91 · 28/08/2012 12:37

Some lovely names here. My faves all seem boring now! Love Ansty as a nn for anastacia

SaskiaRembrandtWasFramed · 28/08/2012 12:41

Another one who liked Atticus here ... ex-DH thought it was pretentious :(

Also loved Jude but I worried mean boys at school would nickname him Judith, and Rafael, but my sons were all born during the days of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Barnum · 28/08/2012 12:52

I have 4 DS and 1 DD all with fairly unusual names except for the eldest but it was unusual when he was born (he's now 24). Their names are Jake, Orin, Theo Barney and Bo.
For the boys I also liked Jesse, Gabriel, Hugo and Kit but all were vetoed.
For DD I also liked Jemimah and Jessamy but again, vetoed Sad
Now I'd go for Arlo, Levi, Malachy or Finn for the boys and Eliza, Annie-Rose (V Shirley Hughes!) or Hope for a girl.

Alliwantisaroomsomewhere · 28/08/2012 13:13

Cassandra, Carrie, Peter (when I held Ds for the first time he looked like a Peter to me, but we had already chosen his full name! I still sometimes think that he should have been Peter).

Jasmine, Honey, Daisy, Justin, Anne, Elizabeth.

snapespeare · 28/08/2012 13:24

gnocchi DD is always very pleased that she was born before 'wicked' and subsequently wasn't name 'elphaba' - although i do call her 'fae' as a nn sometimes.

I would have loved:

Sirius
Severus
Lupin
Hmm
...and from my Doctor who world stand point...
River,
Verity
Idris
(Verity and Idris would be possibilities, but my eggs are old and tired and so I shall just name a lot of cats!)

Pudden · 28/08/2012 13:26

for girls- Demeter, Merrie, Wrenna, Linnet, Hester

for boys- Mordacai

IWantAnotherBaby · 28/08/2012 13:53

I want a Persephone, or Hermione. DH would never agree, I fear.

QueefLatina · 28/08/2012 14:00

I love love love the name Artemis. No more DC for me though!

Arabellasmella · 28/08/2012 14:08

I wanted a Marigold if we'd have had a girl...

ByTheWay1 · 28/08/2012 14:36

I liked Nadine - til I watched Stephen King's The Stand..... then I went off it...

Wrongbow · 28/08/2012 14:53

Angela - have always loved it but it's my stepmother's name, so don't think my mum would be too pleased Hmm
