Just that really. I'm pregnant with dc2 and I love lots of names but wouldn't have the guts to use some of them - silly I know!!!

One of my faves for a girl is Luna/Lunar.

Just for fun- what are yours?

I love Miller but dh said it was too American. Also like Wolf...can just imagine our families' faces at that one Grin

JasperMama · 19/08/2012 15:49

phoenix

thegreylady · 19/08/2012 15:54

I know a 3 year old Ptolemy nn Tolly and he is gorgeous :-)

mumbaisapphire · 19/08/2012 15:55

ManicInsomniac - I really like Avery too. I think it is pretty but I worry that people back in the UK will think I have become Americanised as I live over there now. Anyway this is all hypothetical since am not pregnant yet and who knows if I will have a girl.

I know a Phoenix, she is very cool! Go for it.

Bullets · 19/08/2012 20:46

We love Marlie for a girl, which is a lovely old English name meaning 'pleasant meadow by the sea' which describes where we live perfectly, but I know our family would judge us and I've heard it being screamed at too many naughty boys at the park!!!

Also love Scout, again for a girl.

I actually know a Hera and her big brother is called Hector - the names really work for their family!

tuckingfits · 20/08/2012 01:50

Ohhh, I love Marlie! Haven't heard that before. We have a Maisy as a niece - wonder if Marlie is too similar...? Mental note to add to list.

JustSpiro · 20/08/2012 02:03

Bathsheba and Heathcliff.

There is no way on earth DH would let me get away with either - he likes very boring ordinary names, in spite of the fact he was very nearly a Chad!

Just as well we're not having any more DC's really - I can't imagine we would ever agree on a name for either sex.

SoggySummer · 20/08/2012 02:07

Evangeline - I love it but DH said no way!

pommedechocolat · 20/08/2012 02:43

Valentina. Would sound v silly with solid English surname.

ChristineDaae · 20/08/2012 09:00

manic I love the names on your list. But I would and have use them Smile

rainbow2000 · 20/08/2012 09:22

Hunter i love the name but even thats a bit way out for me.

Littlecherublegs · 20/08/2012 09:41

Love Amos and Cornelius but wouldnt actually use them.

Also love Jackson which is perhaps not even that 'out there' but will maybe save it for a pet as opposed to a child!!

Girls - Cordelia, Cora, Sienna, Merryn- again, not even too 'extreme', though I know I wouldnt use them and prefer more traditional, popular names such as Sophie.

Oh, and I love Barry!! Smile

BedHog · 20/08/2012 09:49

Nijah. I love the way it sounds, and the way the letters look written down.....

If only the name Nigel didn't exist! Smile

Sunnystormyday · 20/08/2012 09:58

Ach. Why don't you all just go for it and give your offspring the names that you LOVE! Think about the amazing class register in 10 yrs time if you all (and me) had the balls to call our kids these beautiful fascinating names!

  • from someone whose 3 dcs all have beautiful and fascinating middle names!
fedupofnamechanging · 20/08/2012 10:09

soggy, my dd is called Evangeline Smile. Luckily DH liked it but I'm not sure I would have listened to him if he hadn't.

PipIsOutNow · 20/08/2012 10:21

There are some amazing names here!!! Glad I started this thread!!! I love saffron too nn saffy. Dh does not like any unusual names at all. I'm an eng literature fan though so love all the names from the classics and the plays I've read!!! I love the name hero I think it's so beautiful.

Tuesday :) DP said no!

goingtoexplodesoon · 26/08/2012 22:45

I'd love the names Hawk, Thor, Loch, Sky (yes, for a boy), Ivor, Falcon, Cedar and Wolf. If I have another DS, I might use Wolf for a middle names. I love Atticus and Finch too.

For girls, Acacia (it's not too unusual though), Teasel, Tigerlily (I think Lily's too bland but Tigerlily too unusual), Onyx and Echo.

scarlettsmummy2 · 26/08/2012 22:48

I love Araminta for a girl and Hugo for a boy. Unfortunately husband doesn't like them and we aren't remotely posh enough to get away with them.

Moodykat · 26/08/2012 22:50

I love the name Clover for a girl. DH does not. Luckily we've got two boys so a non-issue!

Southsearocks · 26/08/2012 22:54

Loved Phineas but didn't use it Sad. Quite liked Cosmo too...

DeathMetalMum · 27/08/2012 07:54

Df is a fan of slightly more unusual than myself fox, hunter, peyton all being favourites. I really like Skye but dont think I could use it. We are the opposite really some of name that I like are just far too popular. Harry and Jack.

marshmallowpies · 27/08/2012 08:07

Ramons
Lamorna
Antigone
Flavia

DH would not have gone for any of them - he wanted to call DD Samantha or Emma!

HaveALittleFaith · 27/08/2012 09:59

I love Luna for a girl. My personal favourite is Bellatrix Blush yes Harry Potter inspired. Our surname is one syllable and starts with B so it rolls off the tongue. It's too off the wall though, isn't it?! I like Jeremiah for a boy but every time I suggest it DH sings

WeeLors · 27/08/2012 11:11

scarletsmummy - both DP and I LOVE Hugo for a boy and and was in our top 2 for DC2 (due in OCt). We like it because its popular in South America (we spent 6mths travelling SA) but don't like the fact that its seen as really posh here. We're not remotely posh either so don't think we could get away with it, I can imagine lots of cats bum faces from family and friends.

I think the final death knell for using it was that we found out someone in Made in Chelsea is called Hugo, neither of us can abide those types of reality shows so don't think we could get over the association if we chose it Sad
