Made-up name

OK, I don't want to give the actual name that I am thinking of (for a baby of either sex - due to be born in 2 weeks - eek!) but here is the formula/ problems:

Rhymes with two different names, one of each sex, so doesn't have an 'odd' ring to it.

Is not an actual name but is a word with positive associations - not a very long word BTW

Is not slang for anything nor the name of anything odd (as far as I can see from extensive google searches) - except for being the name of one (innocuous enough) body part in another language e.g. (but not) Japanese for elbow

I like the sound of it, I am sure that some friends will think it's an odd choice or even odd to make up a name but I don't like very popular names and this would have meaning for me.

What do you think - mad or brilliant?!

Mad. Just give the child a proper name, and save him/her the inconvenience of having to spell it and explain it for the next 80+ years!

ChaosTrlyReigns · 22/06/2012 12:44

You know you're going to have spill dontcha?

It's MN law.

FfoFfycsecs · 22/06/2012 12:44

Mad.

Indith · 22/06/2012 12:51

Well we can't really judge without knowing what it is! Lots of things could fit what you've said but still be odd. Cube. Similar sound to Jude, isn't slang or rude in any way I can think of. Would be very odd.

evamummy · 22/06/2012 12:53

Every name has been made up at some point.

If the name is easy to pronounce/spell, sounds good with your surname and has meaning to you, then why not?

Names are given to identify a person, so it might serve a better purpose at doing that than giving your child a super popular name (that needs a modifier to identify it).

lambethlil · 22/06/2012 12:54

Bicola?

Landrew?

Jichelle?

Galex?

marzipananimal · 22/06/2012 12:59

Impossible to say without hearing it. I generally dislike made up names but if it was a really good one...

marchpoppy · 22/06/2012 12:59

Hee Hee probably someone will guess - it's not Cube! I quite like Jichelle but it's none of the above.

If only the serious business of baby-naming didn't have to be planned with the cocktail of crazy-making hormones swilling around my brain, and no DP to mitigate that (as single). I THINK I trust my own instincts on this, but then again this is me speaking who absent-mindedly (baby brain) put the tomato ketchup in the washing machine this morning...

Go on give us the first letter. It's like a riddle

Barry, carrie and marry?
Bill, jill and dill?

EdithWeston · 22/06/2012 13:57

Possibly something with "Jo" in it, if it's an Asian elbow?

AKE2012 · 22/06/2012 14:08

How can u expect people to say whether its good or bad if u dont say the name.

amck5700 · 22/06/2012 19:12

Moy? (Roy & Joy)

RightBuggerforit · 22/06/2012 22:05

No idea what you're on about! None of the stuff you mention really matters or makes any sense. Spit it out and we'll let you know!

ceeveebee · 22/06/2012 22:39

Peter, Rita, heater?
Joey, Zoe, Moet?
Ricky, Nicky, Biccy?
Sam, Pam, Ham?

Tell tell tell!!

LynetteScavo · 22/06/2012 22:46

Ben, Jen...Fen?

Jay, Kay.....Day?

You really are going to have to tell us what it is.

LynetteScavo · 22/06/2012 22:52

Sherry, Jerry......Berry?

Titchyboomboom · 22/06/2012 22:55

I like made up names... go with it!

My pet hate is when people take a perfectly normal name and mess with the spelling! e.g. (sorry if I offend anyone, I am just a bit of a spelling and grammar freak)
Lillee, Raychel, Meeshell, Alis, Poppee, Peet, Karry
etc etc etc

Grrrrr

ThatllDoPig · 22/06/2012 22:57

What does it begin with? Go on, give us a clue!

AlpinePony · 23/06/2012 10:58

It's not going to be "Ham" given that she said positive connotations and ham will come with a silent "crap".

Mad btw.

ceeveebee · 23/06/2012 11:34

Ham is a naice name.
Unless you're vegetarian:
Shaun, dawn....quorn?

marchpoppy · 23/06/2012 12:50

Moy is the closest so far! I really don't want to potentially out myself by giving the name as - if I do go with it - then it would be googleable in future I guess. But I will say if someone gets it. It's not been said yet, and it's not ham (or spam) - poor potential child. Still haven't made up my mind despite the balance on here seemingly tipping towards 'mad' rather than 'brilliant' haha!

OP posts:
Indith · 23/06/2012 12:59

just spell it l i k e t h i s then it isn't googleable.

GnocchiNineDoors · 23/06/2012 13:04

Just bloody tell us OP.

ceeveebee · 23/06/2012 13:14

NarcolepsyQueen · 23/06/2012 13:22

I've got a name I want your opinion on. Only it isn't a name. I won't tell you what it is. What do you all think?
