Made-up name

OK, I don't want to give the actual name that I am thinking of (for a baby of either sex - due to be born in 2 weeks - eek!) but here is the formula/ problems:

Rhymes with two different names, one of each sex, so doesn't have an 'odd' ring to it.

Is not an actual name but is a word with positive associations - not a very long word BTW

Is not slang for anything nor the name of anything odd (as far as I can see from extensive google searches) - except for being the name of one (innocuous enough) body part in another language e.g. (but not) Japanese for elbow

I like the sound of it, I am sure that some friends will think it's an odd choice or even odd to make up a name but I don't like very popular names and this would have meaning for me.

What do you think - mad or brilliant?!

I gave my dd2 a nice normal name and messed with the spelling !! Possibly just because people hate it when that happens haha !!

NarcolepsyQueen and Lannie33 I get your point, I know it might seem unfair - but I have given all the rules (don't think Lempunda or Cregneedle are also words for something...?) and I am amazed nobody's guessed it yet. Moy was the closest, but it doesn't rhyme with Moy. If someone gets it I will say and in the meantime I think I am going to settle with this name...but will make final decision when I see the baby!

Mad.
Poor child, then teen, then adult (for 70 years) will constantly be having to spellit and then explain why you did that to them.
There's thousands of prper names out ther -just use one of them. It doesn't have to be popular at the moment.

If your so unsure about the name your not willing to post it on a thread about the name then don't go with it!

marchpoppy · 24/06/2012 17:42

Sirzy I'm not posting because I am fairly sure I will use this name and I don't want to be outed on here by doing so if that can be avoided. No Gnocchi you haven't cracked the puzzle! Backforgood I have found two other children in the world with this name via google searches but am presuming they 'made it up' too because it doesn't appear in any website of names that I have found. It's about as easy to spell as 'Moy' which I think has to be an advantage - i have a really common name but still have to spell it all the time as there are variations of it so that doesn't really bother me.

oldqueenie · 24/06/2012 18:34

is the name as annoying as this thread?

badtime · 24/06/2012 18:41

Nothing to do with the OP, but of the list on the first page of funny spellings of normal names, I have to point out that 'Alis' is actually an old spelling of Alice (from before formalised spelling was invented), rather than a modern made-up one.

SunshineOutdoors · 24/06/2012 18:42

If you're going to say if someone gets it, why can't you just say it now? Or pm someone and they can write it on the thread.

oldqueenie · 24/06/2012 18:52

nooka · 24/06/2012 18:58

So you are planning to give your child a short word for their name on the grounds that it rhymes with his/her siblings. Knowing that many people will think it odd or in fact not even a name.

I'm wondering what the positive side of this decision is for your child?

It is not terribly difficult to chose a name that isn't very popular. So certainly not brilliant, but I'm afraid I tend toward dumb rather than mad.

FunSizedMum · 24/06/2012 18:59

Go on; spill the beans. S p e l l it out like that and it won't be google-able. Not sure how anyone can ever comment on any name without even hearing it!

spongebrainfatpants · 24/06/2012 22:17

Give the child a proper bloody name FFs.

sashh · 25/06/2012 01:02

Is not an actual name but is a word with positive associations

Like Faith and Hope?

marchpoppy · 25/06/2012 06:38

Sashh yes in the same way that 'Cara' means 'friend' in Irish, that sort of positive association

stookiesackhouse · 25/06/2012 06:49

OP why not write three names and say it's one of them? Then we can comment on all without knowing which it is.

CurrySpice · 25/06/2012 07:01

Oh how bloody irritating is this thread. Just say FFS!

SunshineOutdoors · 25/06/2012 07:43

I don't think there is a name....
