Oddly I like Jolyon as well!

Booette · 08/06/2012 22:42

StrawbRhi DS3 & 4 go to school with a girl called Rinoa. I've always wondered where the name was from.

I'm glad that there are other people who love Clover!

BodyUnknown · 08/06/2012 22:43

Never heard of Prosper, GoodPharisee! I adore it! Florian is wonderful too and I like Florin (pr. Florine) for a girl.

nm123 · 08/06/2012 22:46

I love Woody and another thumbs up here for Bruce and Clover.

I've never seen Pepper, but think it's awesome. I also love Cherry.

For a girl - Columbine. Trouble is I think of the high school massacre, not the pretty flower. Shame really.

For a boy - Mordecai. I don't know why I like it, I just do.

newatallthis · 08/06/2012 23:28

I love Valentine for a boy. I tried to convince my husband that it was cool, grungey and rock and roll but he wouldnt have it.
I still love it

Bear1984 · 09/06/2012 17:17

StrawbRhi lol! We're expecting a boy, and I've been thinking of the different names but the boys seem to have the most unusual whereas the girls weren't too unusual, which then leaves me with either Zack or Auron lol.

Iphigenie! Love how the name sounds (good alternative to Eugenie imo) but it means "sacrifice"... definitely a bummer.
Most unusual for a boy would be Ariel. The "washing powder" and the "Little Mermaid" reactions I got made me chicken out. Still love it though.

I like unusual names! I don't like the thought of my DC being one of many with the same name in school etc. - though my chosen names are unusual, I haven't listed them here (they're not on this thread, either!)

Brighton - or other less common place names being used

Lots of girls names:
Defiance - from the travelling community (for a girl)
Henrietta
Kerenza
Delphine
Malva (Greek, I think)
Nasreen/Nazneen - maybe more common in Arabic speaking world
Enya

SkinnyVanillaLatte · 15/06/2012 16:03

Wren or Pixie.

SkinnyVanillaLatte · 15/06/2012 16:11

Also:

Temple (girl)
Etienne.

Whoever it was who suggested Moth and Lyric as names - they are beautiful!

ThisAintKansas · 15/06/2012 17:53

Cleopatra. I put in on the list for DC1 (who was a boy anyway, as it turns out) and DH laughed very, very hard...

Justice (I met a beautiful man called this once)

ThisAintKansas · 15/06/2012 17:54

Oh, and Loveday. Again, DH snorted.

marchpoppy, I also love Nazarene, which has a similar sound.

ThisAintKansas · 15/06/2012 17:55

Also love Aliena from Pillars of the Earth, bit it looks too alien-like on paper.

BaseballFury · 15/06/2012 18:24

Darnigo and Tryphena :)

bunnywhack · 21/06/2012 19:54

We have an Auron and a DD with a middle name of Rinoa guess what we play Grin Always said if I had another girl I would go Elizabeth-Boudicca or Lizzie-Boo for short whilst she was small then she could have plenty of scope for shortening it however she liked when she grew up

IsLovingAndGiving · 22/06/2012 22:29

I love Ophelia, Hermione and Aphra for girls.

For boys, I think the name Amadeus is pretty fab!

IsLovingAndGiving · 22/06/2012 22:29

Oh, my friend has a child called Etienne.
I also know an Amadeus.

raininginbaltimore · 23/06/2012 08:37

I love Persephone for a girl, nn Percy.
