Raindrops, my son's middle name is Bear :)

For a boy I love:

  • Walker
  • Kit
  • Seth
  • Judson
  • Jesse (really wouldn't work where we live)
  • Leonard
  • Dante
  • Tristan

I've been reading/watching Game of Thrones too and really like Theon but DH says no son of his is being named after a traitor Hmm

For girls I love:

  • Annabelle
  • Cadence (Caydence?)
  • Mallory
  • Brogan (I wanted a girl called either Brogan Blue or Brogan Belle)
  • Pepper
  • Emerald (Emer or Emmie for short)
  • Earhart

It took DH and I ages to agree on names for DS and DD!

Minshu · 07/06/2012 22:02

My Gran had a cousin called Rosabel (or Rosabelle?) which I think is just lovely.

skewiff · 07/06/2012 22:05

Dusty
Ottelie

TheMightyMojoceratops · 07/06/2012 22:10

Scheherezade, Jezebel and Angharad for DDs.

DoesItComeInBlack · 07/06/2012 23:07

Alaric for a boy, although I've just discovered there is a character in vampire diaries called Alaric, It was going to be dd name had she been a boy.Or Alvar, it was my FIL's name and I like it.

elliejjtiny · 07/06/2012 23:12

wantanorange One of my boys is Malachi. It's not irish when spelt and pronounced that way (Mala-Kye), The irish way of spelling it is Malachy (pronounced Mala-Key). I'd better leave this thread before I out myself Grin

yogaom · 07/06/2012 23:48

Metta for a girl, it is a loving kindness meditation. Love the word and the meaning.

Ponders · 07/06/2012 23:50

George III (the mad one) called his 8th son Octavius - I like that

You'd have to have an awful lot of children to get to that name though Grin

mardyelsie · 08/06/2012 07:48

Euphrostne, nn Topsy, love it!

Mindyourownbusiness · 08/06/2012 08:59

Tooimmature I love Wolfie - but I was a big fan of the sitcom Citizen Smith and his batty m-i-l always used to call him Wolfie (by mistake I think - very funny actress always played the batty old dear cant remember her name). In fact I used to have a Tshirt with Tooting Popular Front and the clenched fist and Power to the People on the back like the main character (Robert Lindsay) wore. Sad or what ! I used to do cross country running though and the number of people that asked me where they could get one was unreal. Happy days - am I really that ancient though ?

Thank you Celticrepublic very kind. I have come to terms with it now it was a good few years ago and funny enough since he started occasionally featuring in my dreams ( starring with my two thirty-odd year old toddlers Grin ) I feel even more at peace about it. Almost as if he is letting me know he is ok - wherever he is - and it makes me feel he does exist in some parallel universe somewhere. I'm sure that sounds mad but throughout my life I have found being a lunatic helps you get through most things really Grin.

Spicysalamander · 08/06/2012 09:21

My 2 favourites have been said- Clover (another Clover Carr fan although if ds2 wasn't due right near royal wedding and had been female I'd have gone for Katy) and I love Taliesin for a boy but DH said no

CakeBump · 08/06/2012 10:16

Rinko for a girl -there's one in school but unfortunately I'm not japanese...

Merlin for a boy but I don't own most of Pembrokeshire so wouldn't get away with it :)

StiffyByng · 08/06/2012 10:40

I know lots of babies and children with names from this board, including DD (although hers is one of least unusual and often comes up on the name boards here as a perfectly normal suggestion Grin) so I think people should just go for what they like. Most primary schools nowadays have all manner of names in them, round our way at least, and not much sticks out.

Pomtastic · 08/06/2012 12:00

I love the girl's name Kerenhappuch (I assume it's pronounced with hard 'k' at the end not 'ch') - think it looks and sounds so pretty!

Too long for everyday though.

SPsFanjoHarboursDeadCats · 08/06/2012 12:03

I was going to say that my sons name is unusual but compared to these his is like the name John Grin

Starfishkiss · 08/06/2012 12:05

On my long list for my imaginary DD are: magnolia (maggie), clover, summer/summa, indigo (indy), blossom, Minnie, clea, carys, coraline/coralie, and coco.
IMO girls can more easily carry off an unusual name.

Pomtastic · 08/06/2012 12:16

Starfishkiss my middle name is in that list Grin and I love it! More than my first name actually.

GlaikitFizzogKnitterOfTheRealm · 08/06/2012 12:22

Ooh I like carys too.

I'd forgotten caledonia nn callie. I'm Scottish btw!

AKMD · 08/06/2012 12:37

For a girl:

  • Annabel, also Amabel
  • Celeste
  • Aurora
  • Melinda
  • Lucinda

For a boy:

  • St John
  • Seth, although that's becoming more popular
  • Ephraim

DS has a pretty unusual name, although it's Biblical and I did spot one in the local paper's 'Baby of the Year competition Angry.

DD will be Annabel, all being well. Can't wait!

Ishoes · 08/06/2012 12:41

Clothilde for a girl-I see it has already been mentioned!

Julian for a boy-I know it is not unusual per se but far too famous five according to my dhAngry

AKMD · 08/06/2012 12:49

I now have 'I'm sorry Ms Jackson; I am for reeeeeeaaaal' stuck in my head

Julian is an ace name.

NoOnesGoingToEatYourJubileeyes · 08/06/2012 13:05

Lysander, Ezra and Ira for boys.

Smilla and Jerusha for girls.

Flowerface · 08/06/2012 13:10

Persephone, nn Percy. I LOVE it.

SirEdmundFrillary · 08/06/2012 13:49

I really like the name Despo for a girl. It reminds me of the song Desperado and sounds a bit sad and heroic.

MelangeATrois · 08/06/2012 14:12

I reeeally wanted Camilla for our DD but as our son is called Charlie, thought it might be a bit daft, even in Jubilee year!
